Seems good so far! Driven 100mi. Easy to replace, just be vigilant about sparks with fuel. Pump seems pretty silent. Left pump in photo was the oem I believe.

this fixed my problem for the most part, it's a decently built pump. My only quarrel is it includes a number of necessary and unnecessary parts in the kit, stuff that's been soaked in fuel for 35 years that needs to be replaced. Almost everything except the gasket between the pump itself and the frame, and the rubber band which holds the pump to the frame. The band you can fashion from a zip tie just fine, but the rubber gasket is not something mazda lists by PN and other kits do include it. If that rubber bit is heavily degraded you will need to source it elsewhere, I got by with mine but it really needs to be replaced. ... show more

Very, very inexpensive compared to other brands. Included extra adaptors presumably so it could be installed in different cars. This model comes with the strainer bag, which is nice, because it must be purchased separately if you go with some other brands. Install took less than 45 mins for me, a novice home mechanic, to put in my '99 Miata. The only scary part was removing the old fuel pump and dealing with gasoline drips in close proximity to my carpet, upholstery and soft-top. The new fuel pump "sings" a bit-- I'd describe it as a soft whirring sound when I put the pedal down, which I don't recall prior to the change. It's not distracting, and my Miata is noisy enough that I don't typically hear it anyway. This may not be noticeable at all for a sedan where the fuel pump is hidden away, but in the MX-5 the tank and pump are directly behind the seats under a thin layer of carpet. ... show more
