Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 7 year old granddaughter. She had been wanting a sewing machine to "sew like grandma". Doesn’t sew well, broke the first night, cute pink color, but just junk, I would not recommend this item. You need a working knowledge of a sewing machine to fix it when it doesn’t sew/stops every minute and a half. The needle snapped, after changing the needle, it wouldn’t sew at all. I bought 2 machines for my granddaughters, both 9. They were so excited to sew with me. Truley disappointed , the other machine still works with a wing and a prayer, sews once in a while, stopping frequently. ... show more

I like the size and color bit thats about it. Ive only used it once so far and had difficulty keep the thread where it needed to be. I had to constantly rethread the needle and cut the string and redo. But once you get ot to stay threaded it works good for small projects

I love this machine for darts, gathering, lace, appliques, seams, repairs, hems, pleats, trim, and lightweight fabric garments. I have wanted something like this for years. I purchased a sewing machine a few years ago and couldn't figure out how to use it. This item is perfect for minor sewing projects, but I have made simple tunics with easy patterns and thin fabrics on my Singer machine; this works well in that same vein, though it is still under $40. item! So I do not expect this to do too much; it does small jobs well. The stitching is smooth enough for me. The handheld machines are not in the same league because they are too limited for similar price ranges. Yay for the simple and basic! You can get small sewing machines with several stitch types, but I need the basics done. I will not do zippers or buttonholes. Great deal! I love the simplicity of the olden days. My antique Singer was a real machine, and I have no desire to learn the ins and outs of fuller-featured engines. This item is easy to clean but be careful as this is an electric machine. I suggest you are careful as this operates with a needle going up and down, so your fingers must be out of the way as you are still grabbing onto the fabric and advancing. This machine pays for itself if you are short and your pants need hemming. An enthusiastic beginner will learn by example; and have many hours of fun playing. This item is easy to clean, is a great value, and more because of the sewing notions. You get thimbles, threaders, pins, and bobbins (filled and empty). There is so much more! The colored threads are great to have. Some items in sewing kits are not up to par, but that is okay. I recommend using the seam ripper for the thread to remove the stitching and the needle to add. If you want to move up in quality and function, there are machines out there. But I have no desire to fight with threading machines or loading bobbins. I sew on this slowly, as it is not meat for leather, several layers of fabric, plus more that you need to use a full-featured machine. Enjoy! ... show more

I got this for my 9 yr old. After hours of videos, we weren't able to get it to work correctly.... I do own a brother sewing machine so it wasn't my first rodeo but this one kept breaking the thread :(
