I had the idea to get into wood carving recently. We live in a mixed growth forest, and frankly, I'd rather do something with the trees when they die than let them rot. I researched a lot of carving kits and this one suited me best, so I ordered it. As soon as it arrived, I grabbed a cedar log and tried out all the tools to see what each of them do. They arrived very sharp and they seem durable. Also, there's a nice variety of them. The instructions are a bit skimpy, but I figured that would be the case, so I ordered a carving instruction book, too. It's a very nice set for a beginner like me, but I can already tell that I'm going to need to buy more tools if I'm really going to carve. Still, I'm very happy with this beginner set. I haven't carved anything worth looking at yet, but again, I'm in the learning process.

These work really well for what I need. Super sharp and easy to use. They sent multiple different blades for different situations and their sharpness holds up well. This was definitely a steal for the price that was offered.

This has just about everything you need for carving both wood and leather, but it is not the nicest set I have seen. The leather storage bag is not as thick as I was anticipating based on the description, and it is too small to put everything included such as the mallet and chisels, so those arrived loose in the box. The tools themselves are very sharp, the handles are all wooden but seemed a little awkward to use since they are very wide and lightweight. I found myself having difficulty gripping them for precise cuts. Regardless of these issues, I do think that for the price this is a great starter kit for someone looking to get into woodworking.

A great set of tools, well worth the price. The knives and chisels are of good quality, sharp, and comfortable to use. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and sturdiness of the tool bag. Overall, I am satisfied with this kit.
