  • Fantastic and Surprising!
I had an LG 4k IPS 60 FPS Freesync monitor for a few years and I wanted to see what was out there in a 144hz type of monitor. After a lot of digging, I stumbled on this gem and decided to give it a go. I am really glad that I did! I found that for my budget, I would have to give up 4k and step down to 1440p. I was fine with that. However, I also found that most monitors TN instead of IPS, and the colors would be terrible. After owning this Dell for a couple of months, I can safely say that I don't miss 4k and I don't miss IPS. To my aging eyes, 1440p is sharp enough and it is easier to push high framerates on 1440p. Of course if you have a 4k monitor, you can always set the resolution lower. However whenever you move away from the native resolution, things start to look bad. I have found that it is best to stick to native as much as possible for best picture quality. For the IPS part, I could notice a difference when both monitors were side by side. However, I a few months later and it's not something I ever really think about. The color on the Dell S2719DGFis really good. Not really good for a TN. It is just really good. In fact, picture quality overall is great. I almost want to buy one for work to replace my 1080p IPS monitors. So good picture quality, color, and 1440p are all good. What about the 144hz? This was huge for me. It really made the whole experience of PC gaming so much better. Everything is smooth. I feel like my mouse is doing exactly what I want. Hit shots in an FPS is easier. Racing around Forza Horizon 4 is so much more immersive. This is how PC gaming is supposed to feel. One more thing on the 144hz part. I strongly recommend you do a few things to get the most out of this monitor. 1) Use a Displayport cable to connect from the monitor to the GPU. Mine did not come with one in the box, maybe order one at the same time. 2) If you don't have Displayport on your GPU, use an HDMI cable and connect to the HDMI 2.0 port on the monitor. I did get one of those in the box. 3) If you don't have HDMI on your GPU, upgrade your GPU 4) Reboot your computer after installing the monitor 5) Go into Advanced Display Settings and make sure that the monitor refresh is set to 144hz. It will probably default to 60hz, so it will need to be changed to take advantage of it. 6) If you have a Nvidia GTX 10 or 20 series card, open up the Nvidia settings panel. Look for G-Sync and turn it on. This will enable Freesync on the monitor to run. 7) If you have an AMD card, go into the settings and make sure the Freesync switch is turned on. 8) Once you get into a game, turn off any frame limiters and turn on V-Sync. By enabling V-Sync, your frames will cap at 144, Freesync will operate between 40 and 144 FPS, and V-Sync will take over at 39 FPS and below. This will ensure that you have extremely smooth gameplay between 40 and 144 FPS with no tearing and no lag on your mouse or keyboard. Overall, this is a fantastic monitor, and I have been surprised at how much I love it. A few other things that I didn't mention were the excellent stand and the convenient USB hub. This monitor brings a lot of value and function to the table. I highly recommend this monitor! ... show more

  • Most underrated monitor you will find. Professional by day. Gamer by night.
I purchased 3 of these used through Amazon Warehouse and I have to say that I am blown away by these. The cheapest one was $206 and most expensive being $277. The S2719DGF has all the features where it counts and more. - The most under rated feature IMO is the menu and input switching. I work from home and have a separate work and personal machine so I constantly switch between machines every day, on all 3 monitors. The menu is very customizable so you can have quick settings without going too far into the menu. ALSO, the monitor can detect which inputs have an active signal and will automatically switch to that if set to AUTO. I tried several gaming monitors before going with these and the input switching was the biggest selling point for me. It surprises me that this is left out even on some of the higher end monitors. - Many will say that TN panels are not very good. This is the exception. I've seen and owned IPS panels that looked much worse than my 3 monitors. The one caveat is that while it looks good horizontally, be prepared to be disappointed if you orient them vertically. I am a developer and a vertical screen can be very nice. However, it really only looks good from straight on, or maybe from the side that would normally be the top. - High refresh rate works great. 3 display inputs, 2 of which support high refresh rate. - The stand is very stable and adjustable which brings the monitor up to a comfortable level. - If you're going for the "gamer" look, this is not the screen for you. But it is a very clean look and will go nicely with any setup. - The integrated USB is very useful. I have them I have 2 monitors plugged into my center one, which then plugs into my desktop with the one USB cable. Even at the full new price, these are still really competitive against any other 1440p gaming monitor. At the used prices that I got them at, there was absolutely no contest. Especially when there were 1080p monitors that were going for about the same price that I got each of these for. ... show more
