  • Durable Rough Terrain Vehicle but Short Playtime
Review Summary: The vehicle offers an exciting and durable play experience, making it a great gift for kids aged five and up. Its performance on various surfaces and engaging features like lights and sounds enhance playtime. However, the short battery life of 15-20 minutes can be a significant drawback, especially for extended play sessions or when taking the toy to a friend's house. Additionally, the design of the water entry could be improved for ease of use. Despite these limitations, it remains a fun and entertaining choice for outdoor play. Remote Control Car- My Experience: I picked out this DEERC Remote Control Car as a gift for my 5-year-old nephew. I also thought all the noise and lights would irritate my brother. So, win-win. The vehicle and remote control are relatively easy to set up. First, start by charging the rechargeable battery that comes with the kit using the accompanying cord (see photo). You can only charge one battery at a time, which will be used in the car. Additionally, you'll need two AA batteries for the remote control. The rechargeable battery lasts approximately 15-20 minutes of playtime, so charging both batteries is important. Once they are charged, use the screwdriver included in the kit to loosen the screw on the underside of the car. The screw won't come out completely (see photo). Connect the rechargeable battery to the connection cord (see photo). Next, unscrew the battery panel on the remote; again, the screw cannot be removed entirely; just loosen it (see photo). Insert the AA batteries into the remote. You're now ready to play! Turn on the car first, then the remote. They will pair automatically. The vehicle is set with noise and lights activated, so if you want to turn them off, press the top left and right buttons on the control, and both will turn off completely. Please note that the mist feature behind the car only works if you fill the tank with water. The cap is located at the back of the vehicle under a bar (see photo). It can be challenging to maneuver the cap in and out of the hole due to the bar, which does not appear removable. Use a water absorption bottle to add water into the hole. The car has a lot of power, running quickly with large tires that allow it to maneuver smoothly over thick carpet. However, it can get stuck trying to run over objects. Initially, I was concerned about the material of the top, as it felt and sounded like aluminum. However, I crashed the vehicle several times while testing it before giving it to my nephew, and it bounced off everything without any dents. This vehicle is perfect for outdoor play, especially with noisy sounds and flashing lights. However, due to its high speed, I recommend it for children aged five years and up. A four-year-old would likely keep crashing it, which could be frustrating. My recommendation differs from the manufacturer's suggested age, which includes three and four-year-olds. Overall, this is a cool gift. However, I am disappointed with the short playtime of each rechargeable battery; I'd expect at least two hours rather than just 20 minutes. This limitation makes bringing the vehicle to play at a friend's house difficult, knowing that you'll need to recharge the batteries constantly. I would also have suggested redesigning the water entry to make it more user-friendly. My five-year-old nephew loves it. ... show more

  • Really Nice Little Car
I ordered about 7 different RC cars for an event at a school for special kids. Of all of them this is the easiest to steer. It's fairly zippy though not crazy fast. The body is really thin plastic but that's not unusual for this type car to keep weight down. It has one quirk that's cool enough I think it's gotta be by design not coincidence. If you're going full blast in forward and you flip the stick to reverse, the car does a perfect 180 and starts going the other way. Every time. If you have younger kids or kids with varying abilities, this is a good choice. It's lots of fun while being easy to drive. ... show more

  • Good for boys
Super cool car. The battery lasts a long time. It was easy to figure out and use. The car is built well and my son loves playing with it.

  • Kids loved it (Kids are 17 and 18...)
Needs batteries, but worked out of the box. Faster than I expected, lights up and makes lots of car noises. Sped up and down my hilly driveway, and the water spray is more like a mist. The kids had a riot. The remote control is fairly intuitive and they ran it across the driveway, the grass, the rocks, the hard floor and up over the bump of the carpet without issue. They had fun playing with it until the batteries died, waited for it to charge and played again. Couldn't wait for dark to play some more. ... show more

  • "Deceptive" is putting it lightly
If this were a purchase instead of a Vine review, I would have returned it AND reported the seller to Amazon for deceptive advertising! Advertised to play "cheerful background music", but it does not...it plays idle engine sound at rest, turn signal sound when turning, revving engine sound when driving, and skidding tires sound when you release stick from driving. Advertised to be "ready for customization" and "invites imaginative play", but it does these things like a rock does these things. You can also customize a rock with paint, tape, glue, etc. And just like a rock, this RC truck does not "invite" imaginative play...at best, it just doesn't impede imaginative play. Advertised to have "precise steering", but by definition, it has zero precision. Precision means to have finer increments of change, meaning, the smaller the change in angle, the higher the precision of steering. This RC truck has only full-left or full-right, with no increments of change between them (obviously, except for straight). Negative feedback beyond the deceptive advertising starts by continuing with the steering. When steering left and so much as gently bumping into a wall, the wheels get stuck in the left-turn position. I reproduced the problem manually by very slightly forcing the wheels left beyond their natural stopping point. Not sure if this is a design flaw or a manufacturing defect of my unit. And this RC truck has one of the worst turn radiuses I've ever seen on any cheap RC vehicle. If you're playing with it indoors, you'll be making alot of multi-point turns. Also, this RC has no suspension whatsoever...absolutely none. Other cheap RC vehicles in this category often have enough play in the steering and driveline components to act as pseudo-suspension, but not this vehicle. And the controller feels cheap...the drive stick has alot of lateral play (i.e., moves left & right) and the steering stick has alot of lateral play (i.e., moves up & down). Even without the sound, lights & misters, I've not been able to get 20 minutes of runtime out of a battery...close, maybe 15+. But with everything on, definitely less than 15 mins. Maybe they're including the time it takes to go back in the house, find the other battery, swap them and put the dead one on the charger, as "play time"...then, you might get 40 minutes of "play time"...maybe. Here's the silver lining I can offer. It works...you can drive and steer it. It has a decent amount of speed, and enough torque lock-up the back tires and skid to a stop. The lights are nice and bright. The mist action works pretty well (and I didn't hear the high-frequency sound others have described). Remote has buttons to independently control sounds (a godsend because the sounds were loud and annoying after a short while), lights and mist. If you ever lose the screws for the battery compartments, they also have pry-clips to hold them in place. The water does not leak from the reservoir. Bottom line: this is not a good toy RC for the price. If this is your price range, find something different. If you can afford it, bump up the budget by $10-$15. ... show more
