    • Very good drone!
I have been flying the DE22 drone for a couple of months. I also have an HS600 and started with an HS100. I purchased this model also because it is larger and heavier than most and that could hopefully resist the wind where I live, be easier to see at distance, and because it has a 2-axis gimbal camera with EIS for more stable video. After reading the manual I charged the transmitter & drone batteries, turned transmitter and drone on, paired them, calibrated the compass (be sure to read the instructions carefully about how to do this) and gyro and then let it find GPS satellites (can take a minute or so). I find it best to do the auto take-off to 10’ and let it hover for 10-15 seconds to stabilize before going up higher. I stayed in Beginner’s Mode to start with then gradually increased maximum distance to 1,000’ and maximum height to 400’ as I grew more comfortable. I avoid windy days or flying where there are people, animals, cars, buildings, trees, etc. I bought a 64GB SD card so I could take photos and record videos on it and transfer them to my PC. I downloaded the app, installed it on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S7) and connected it to the drone via Wi-Fi so I could see what it was doing and record videos that way. Worked just fine. Good video quality and stable due to the 2-axis gimbal. After visiting some Facebook groups I learned about an app called UAV Forecast which recommends if its safe to fly based on Kp index, availability of satellites, wind, etc. Note that due to the size and weight (20oz) of this drone it has to be registered with the FAA, which I had already done for my HS100 and was quick and easy ($5 for 3 years and applies to all your drones) and attach the ID to the drone. I live within 5 miles of a medium airport which is Class D controlled airspace so am limited to 400’ altitude. Also, recreational drone flyers must get a TRUST certificate from the FAA. It is a quick and easy test and impossible to fail! So far no flyaways, crashes or erratic behavior. Very stable. All in all a very good drone! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This is my first “real drone”, and I’m incredibly impressed at how much technology you can get for the price! There are three key components that work together to make flying this easy, and to deliver those “wow!” video shots that I want to capture. First, the drone has a GPS and it’s designed to know where it is relative to its take off point and relative to where you tell it to go. It’s trivial to take off and hover in place, compensating for any wind without any experience. It just stays there hovering until you tell it to move somewhere else. Pressing the return to home button and seeing it fly back on its own is magical! Second, the camera is mounted on a two axis gimbal that produces fantastic results - despite the drone pitching and rolling while flying, the horizon stays rock steady. Absolute game changer compared to cheaper drones that don’t have gimbals. Lastly, the camera itself is no toy, and produces a nice HD output. You can use the video and be happy with it out of the box for social media and smartphone use. Realistically, don’t expect true 4K quality from this price point, even if the drone upscales to 4K. Dynamic range is ok, but not great. If superior cinematic image quality is what you’re looking for, you’ll need to spend more. Batteries have lasted about 20 minutes for me, in sub freezing temperatures. With two included batteries, that seems sufficient for me, but I may buy another battery to keep me flying since they do take about 4 hours to recharge at 2 amps. It comes with a compact but nicely protective case that fits everything without fuss. One of the things in the case is the manual , and it is absolutely essential to read! You will need to make sure you calibrate the compass sensor and Gyros, and to interpret the lights and what they mean. Last, please be aware that this drone weighs 556 Grams, above the FAA threshold of 249 grams for registration. It took me about five minutes on the FAA drone zone website and I registered the drone. I’m very happy so far with this, and plan to do more flying to put it through it’s paces. Edit : added video and stills from the drone, flying on the coast of MA in about 10 mph wind at 32 degrees air temperature. This is my second drone that I've owned and my first GPS enabled drone. First up, it's a great drone! It flies easy and the camera takes really good video and pics. I notice that at around 4-500 yrds out there was some delay on the drone action and i was in open desert so a clear and open space. On about my 5th flight the camera stopped functioning on the up and down pan. And the gimble didn't seem to operate smoothly when flying sideways. The video then froze on me and thankfully the GPS return to home function worked cuz I couldn't physically see the drone so how to get back would have been very difficult. I contacted customer service and they were quick to answer and try to resolve the problem. I started to have some connection issues and the camera would work correctly only every other time or so. Customer service wanted to drag this on with questions and multiple attempts at uninstall and reinstall and try this and check that...and it became redundant after about 3 days. I simply did a return through Amazon and had the replacement drone in two or three days. I love the drone and I bought two extra batteries for longer flight times.
