  • Excellent Performance on a i9 9900k
Size: 240mm Color: RGB Pump
Along came the Castle 240EX... I got it delivered same day, nice Amazon! Pop that baby in, I was already expecting fan pump noise but once powered on I COULD NOT hear the pump. It was whisper quiet. I was amazed to say the least. Idle operations was silent 1.5 ft away. Not only did this cooler easily kept my 9900k at bay, I was able to sustain 4.7ghz all core easy. Tried 4.8ghz easy, 4.9ghz with some bios setting tweaks wasnt that easy. And, of course the magic 5Ghz was stable with some major tweaking with the Gigabyte Auros bios. Took me about 1.5 days of testing. Ncase M1 Castle 240EX as exhaust with two 120mm fans on bottom as intake 5ghz stable all core @ 1.296v 4.9ghz stable all core @ 1.24v Gigabyte Auros z390 I wifi ITX 32gb 3200mhz G.Skill Tridentz 16 CAS Ram Temps (updated* 8/13/19) ambient temp is around 89F (32C) 5Ghz all-core Dynamic vcore with -0.120v offset, Load line calibration - LOW 1.29v 92c 192 cpu only watts -cinebench r20 1.29v 94c 195 watts -blender 1.29v 98c 181 watts -aida64 extreme (memory stress unchecked for more watts to the cpu) 1.29v 97c 203 watts -prime95 (avx off) 1.29v 99c 241 watts -prime95 (avx on) **throttling 1.29v 64c 60-83 watts (average) -gaming (average) 4.9Ghz all-core Dynamic vcore with -0.060v offset, Load line calibration - LOW 1.22v 81c 159 watts cpu only watts -cinebench r20 1.22v 82c 160 watts -blender 1.24v 93c 163 watts -aida64 extreme (memory stress unchecked for more watts to the cpu) 1.20v 84c 165 watts -prime95 (avx off) 1.27v 99c 233 watts -prime95 (avx on) throttling 1.20v 55c 60-75 watts (average) -gaming (average) * vcore changes due to dynamic voltage with offset If you just play games, seriously don't even worry about your temps, even if your home is around 80F to 100F inside like my home in the summer. If you have AC, your temps should look much much better than mines. Anyway, as you can see, there is a huge difference in wattage and heat going from 4.9ghx to 5ghz. The difference is only 5 seconds better on blender BMW benchmark, and 100 difference on cinebench r20 (4106 vs 4212) therefore, for me I think 4.9ghz is a much better frequency to use. • Does Aestetics doe
Size: 360mm Color: RGB Pump
Firstly, i have been waiting MONTHS for this. When their Castle RGB series was announced, i searched high and low for reviews and then where to buy, which ended up being nowhere. I contemplated spending $100 to have it shipped from the UK. Thankfully I gave up and settled for my old AIO, because exactly 1 month later, scrolling through amazon, I see THIS. No reviews yet? Considering it wasn't available a month ago, it has to be new. No videos on youtube (yet). After further research, this is being dubbed "Version 2" of the castle series, with a few noticable aestetics such as the additional ring around the pump and the ability to change, edit and rotate the inner emblem/design. It comes with a glass one (deepcool mentioned somewhere you can add your own emblem, which i opted not to design) so now its a black hole in the middle (looks like NZXT kraken but way more light). I am very happy with this and very happy with Deepcool. Just when i lost faith, they brought me back. Only cautionable thing is, the fans are NOT RGB. They may release the variant with RGB fans, but take note that these are NOT RGB fans. Couldnt find any notes anywhere on tube length so i believe its roughly around 13 inches in case you need to know for your build. I have been using this for 4 hours straight and i have good temps under gaming and under idle, which should be expected from the 360 rad variant. Currently they also have a 240 variant if youre looking for that on amazon. I will update either in a few days or weeks depending on my usage. But again, super happy and releived that they finally released this in the U.S. Its not the original one shown at CES, but it is still cooler and better. ... show more

  • Good pricing for a 360mm rad. Some marginal build quality.
Size: 360mm Color: RGB Pump
This is my first Deepcool product, and the jury is out on if there will be a second. I'm running an AMD 3700x on an Asus ROG Hero motherboard in a Lian Li 011 Dynamic case. With that being said; let's get started. Pros: The pricing for this is very competitive, and the feature set seemed appealing to me. With this cooler being a 360mm radiator for about $20-$30 more than many 240mm and 280mm radiators; it seemed like a solid price to performance deal. The mounting brackets are detachable (screwed into) from the pump unit itself which should ideally make modding/painting them easier than many other competitors. I also appreciated the fact that I was able to use the existing cpu back plate to screw this cooler into for my AM4 socket cpu. The fans also seem to pull a decent amount of air while not being the noisiest in my case (a stock GPU cooler will be notably louder). The coolant lines are long while being flexible enough that they should be suitable for any mid or full ATX case. I also appreciate that this pump can be oriented in 4 difference positions depending on setup needs. Cons: After less than a month of ownership half of the LED's on the pump have begun to fail (they all worked for the first couple of weeks). They flash random colors, regardless of what I set them to (via Asus software, or completely independent of the motherboard using the provided in-line sata power connector and controller. Same results). My work around is to merely turn them off, which is a bummer considering this is a selling feature of this pump. The next biggest con for me is the overall temps. In my previous system I used a Corsair H100i, and I loved it. It kept my cpu under an average load in the mid to upper 30's C. That was a 240mm rad in an NZXT h440 case which isn't known for it's good airflow. The 011 Dynamic I'm using now should be superior in terms of airflow. However, with the Castle 360ex I'm getting normal use temps around the mid to upper 40 degree C. This could be due to the quality of the pre-applied thermal paste that I'm using, and I might try applying a better quality paste to see if this helps with the temps. I was just expecting better temps overall since the radiator is notably larger than my previous coolers. Not a deal breaker, but I expected better. Lastly; while it might not look like it in the image, the plastic on the LED cover feels cheap. Considering the price point overall it makes sense. I just didn't expect it to feel as flimsy as it does. Overall: While I'm incredibly disappointed that half of the LED's have bugged out on me; I'm not read to denounce this experiencing just yet. The pump itself works, and it (as well as the fans) is not very noisy. There are a lot of variables I can account for that factor into the CPU temps. I just came in with higher expectations due to previous experiences using some of Deepcool's competition which worked flawlessly for me out of the box. I've reached out to Deepcool's technical support regarding the pump LED situation, and I'll update this review pending how that experience goes. ... show more
