  • awesome guitar kit
Unlike most reviews that I see where people use chatGBT, I'm going to give you a human review.I build guitars from scratch using spruce pine wood from lowes(archtops) and ammunition can 6 string electric guitars using guitar necks purchased from amazon...I also know how to paint cars(this is for some staining and painting suggestions) For the price, this is a great kit, top notch body..very light sanding with 400 grit sandpaper ,I had to do NOTHING to the neck...it was perfect, didn't have to mess with the truss rod or file any frets down and it fit the body tight, and straight. The hardware is ok, I did upgrade to Guyker vintage style locking tuning pegs, Biaungdo tone and volume knobs and a roller saddle bridge. Guitar is perfect. Now to color it..R.E. Morgan ( the reviewer with the red guitar)..your guitar looks really good but you need to do a little more work and it will look awesome. Here is what people need to do..if you use stain... sand guitar with 400 sandpaper and stain...if you use paint , paint guitar, once paint is dry ..LIGHTY sand the paint with 600 grit paper...now once that is done you can use a regular spray can of Krylon acrylic clear gloss(TAKE YOUR TIME doing this)do one side at a time and keep guitar on flat surface). Do 3 or 4 coats 8 to 10 minutes apart and let dry over night. The next day wet sand with 1000 than 2000 grit sand paper(when sanding, not a lot, when you start to see a slight sludge on the sandpaper and wood that means that you are done sanding)...after sanding use regular automotive compound and polish (do this by hand)...your guitar will look better than store bought....I added some photos of some of the guitars that I build just to show you that I'm not just blowing smoke....I hope I have been helpful to some out there :) ... show more

  • Great kit
good guitar kit ,but it should not be a first build. I upgraded the tuners with locking tuners . Upgraded thee switch and pots. I changed out magnets in the pickups with alnico V Also the tail piece had to be filed clean so the strings would fit. For the finish ,I used RIT DYE and then put about 10 coats of TRU oil on it. ... show more

  • Glue bleed through prevents stain from taking.
I was impressed with the quality of this kit. The neck joint was tight, and everything looked fantastic, until I applied dye. Suddenly a lot of spots showed up that would not take the dye, leaving white spots all over due to excess glue during lamination of body. Since I had already stained it, and because it was so good besides the glue spots, I decided to keep it and just paint it a solid color. What a waste of a nice flamed maple top. I hope this gets passed along to the factory, because I am pretty disappointed. ... show more

  • Proper finishing is the most important thing with this kit like all wood it needs to be sealed
First this kit was great well worth the money i made some hard wear changes but only from my liking i seen 2 bad reviews about this kit its not the fault of the kit that they had finish problems they used spray paint and did not seal the body of the guitar so their problem was thier fault i properly preped and painted and mine came out looking like a gibson the kit is easy to put together and is goid for a first time so remeber to fallow the instructions in the kit they even say to use a sealer before finishing laquer finish is your best beat there is paint make for guitars again the kit is out standing ... show more

  • It will work
This kit will make a working guitar, but if you are looking to stain or finish the wood, forget it. Glue completely came through the plys on the top

  • Beautiful ❤️
I love the woodwork I love that it looks and feels a lot more expensive than what it is. It is a great way for a beginner like me to learn how to finish a guitar

  • NOT a guitar for a first-timer
Finished up this guitar today. I went together great, no adjustments required on the neck, just a bit of filing for a couple sharp fret ends. Plays great. Not recommended for anyone who has never done a kit before. NO instructions came with the kit that pertained to this specific model; just some generic info. The video has NOTHING to do with this guitar. ... show more
