I recently purchased the Prolight Wheeled Coffin Surfboard Travel Bag, but after trying it out, I decided to return it because it was too bulky and complicated to use. Compared to that, this bag from Db Journey 7’6 is truly night and day. You can’t talk enough about the effort they’ve put into the design—every detail is thoughtful and well-engineered. However, I need to address an important issue: their marketing. The photos and videos on their website and YouTube are outdated and misleading. Features like the nose and tail pouches, as well as the removable handle, are no longer part of the updated model. When my package arrived in a suspicious Amazon bag, I initially thought I’d received a previously used item or one with missing parts. I emailed Db Journey for clarification, and to their credit, they responded the next day. They explained that the nose and tail pouches were removed based on customer feedback, as many people prefer using a towel or hoodie for protection instead. While I understand the reasoning, their marketing team should update the product descriptions, photos, and videos (especially on Amazon) to avoid confusing consumers. That said, the bag itself is fantastic. When not in use, it’s compact and easy to store, and the overall design and engineering are among the best I’ve seen in a surfboard travel bag. If they fix the marketing, it would make for a much clearer and less confusing customer experience.

Overall this is a really good bag/coffin for short-boards. My main criteria for bags is good padding and good build quality and this bag is great in that regard with copious padding in the most critical spots and stitching/materials that seem rugged like they will last for years. The padding on the nose and tail section of the bag is well over an inch thick and will definitely help to soften the blows of airport baggage handlers. The internal separators are okay but I would probably add a couple towels between each board as well just for added protection. The internal pocket is large enough for quite a few fins depending on how many boards and fin set-up. The outside of the bag has a lot of nice touches. First off is the amount of handles it has to either pick up, carry or tie down with. The shoulder strap is nicely padded and comfortable and the wheels roll super-smoothly. They'd be great going through an airport and probably be okay going down a central American dirt road as well. Probably not ideal though. One of my favorite aspects is how well the bag folds up and secures into a small space. It rolls up into a carry-on-ish size which is great for storing in between trips. Really, this is all I can ask for in a bag. I will still probably bubble-wrap the boards and add as much extra padding as possible but this bag gives you everything you should need to get the boards there in (hopefully) one piece. One side-note, we rarely travel with 4 boards so I haven't tested the capacity but it should be plenty large if you're going to max it out. You may just not have as much room for extraneous stuff as well.
