The rapidity with which this blanket seemed to absorb surplus warmth around my body was something that I saw. I felt a continuous breeze-like feeling cradle me till I went off to sleep, as opposed to the typical spikes of heat that used to cause me to peel back layers of clothing in anger. The night sweats were never able to take hold since it was not a sudden cold but rather a steady, chilly embrace that held them in place. During the course of the night, that gradual cooling maintained its equilibrium, and as a result, I no longer awoke soaked in sweat or with my sheets rolled up at the foot of the bed. This blanket did more than just keep me cool; it also enabled me to sleep for longer periods of time without interruption. My previous routine consisted of waking up numerous times in an attempt to locate a cooler area or to completely remove the blanket from my bed. From this point on, I am able to sleep for an extended period of time, often clocking in between seven and eight hours without making any adjustments. I have seen a tremendous change in my morning energy levels: I am now feeling more energetic, clear-headed, and much more eager to take on the challenges of the day. Another facet that left an impression on me was the adaptability it exhibited over the year. The cooling function is at its peak on nights with higher temperatures, but I also put it through its paces during a short spring cold. A delicate barrier that maintained a lovely warmth around me without suffocating me was given by the blanket, which prevented me from experiencing an excessively chilly sensation. As a result of its smooth transition between cooling and mild warmth, I have been able to keep it on the bed throughout the whole year, meaning that I no longer have to switch out my bedding whenever the temperature changes.

I’m an engineer, so am immediately skeptical of anything that seems to violate any of the well-known physical laws…like the first law of Thermodynamics. I’m also a VERY warm sleeper who is constantly trying to keep cool at night. So, in spite of my skepticism, I agreed to try this Dream Valley cooling comforter with “Outlast” technology. The comforter comes nicely packaged with a pretty ribbon and bow…but no instructions on use or washing. There is a tag on the comforter with laundering instructions, though. I’ve read elsewhere that it is best to deploy this comforter without a top sheet, meaning you have your fitted sheet on your mattress, then the Dream Valley comforter directly on top of you as you sleep. I’ve lived in Europe for years in a past life, and have travelled all over the world, so have experienced this “no top sheet” way to make a bed. No issues. In the case of the Dream Vally comforter, it is VERY SOFT and VERY COMFORTABLE. It is also plenty large to fully cover two people in our queen bed. No issues with feet sticking out from the end (I’m 6’ tall). So, does it work? Short answer: ABSOLUTELY! After one week of sleeping with the Dream Valley cooling comforter, I can report I have not slept this comfortably and soundly in years. I have been able to turn off the window A/C unit most nights. We are in a heat wave, with daytime temperatures in the mid to upper 90’s, so I still need the A/C to cool down the room below 75F for an hour before hitting the sack. Our bedroom is in a converted attic in a Cape Cod, and there isn’t much in the way of insulation. Also, the central air in our house does little to cool this part of our abode. Somehow, and I don’t fully understand it, this comforter feels cool to the touch, and in addition, cools the fitted sheet below. It is wonderful. It is also very soft, and feels wonderful on bare skin. Something of note: not all cooling comforters are created equal. There is a “special sauce” that the best cooling comforters contain known as “Outlast”. This seems to be wax-like beads that permeate the inside of the comforter, first developed by NASA to keep astronauts cool. This Dream Valley comforter HAS Outlast. The tag that was attached to the ribbon in the package has a QR code that leads to a video about “Outlast”. It’s mostly marketing mumbo jumbo. I’m intrigued by trying to figure out how this passive device (no cooling coils, no fans, no other active means of cooling) works so well, but….. Just take the word of this skeptic: THIS THING IS AMAZING! I have found myself so excited I’ve told friends and relatives about it, and I almost NEVER do this. Needless to say, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

We got the cool grey one. It's not exactly grey but it's ok. I wish there were more colors options and it was a little cheaper. That's the only reason for docking. I've never had such an expensive comforter. This is REALLY nice. It is microfiber, but not microfiber like I thought it would be like what you feel with microfiber sheets. It also doesn't pull fuzz that sticks to it from the washer/dryer like some ofter microfiber materials. My husband is a hot sleeper and I'm always cold, so this was for him. It's lighter weight than I expected both for size and weight in depth so to speak. It'd be easy for an elder to lift and move around. This does stay cool and it's cool to the touch. It helps my husband sleep, so we're deffinatly happy. I don't have another cooling blanket to compare it too price wise, but if you do i can at least tell you this works like intended. The stitching is decent too. Not 1 out of place and loose when delivered. I'm not sure yet how it will hold up to our dogs who sleep with us, but it washes well and it's held up to dog zoomies so far!
