The rapidity with which this blanket seemed to absorb surplus warmth around my body was something that I saw. I felt a continuous breeze-like feeling cradle me till I went off to sleep, as opposed to the typical spikes of heat that used to cause me to peel back layers of clothing in anger. The night sweats were never able to take hold since it was not a sudden cold but rather a steady, chilly embrace that held them in place. During the course of the night, that gradual cooling maintained its equilibrium, and as a result, I no longer awoke soaked in sweat or with my sheets rolled up at the foot of the bed. This blanket did more than just keep me cool; it also enabled me to sleep for longer periods of time without interruption. My previous routine consisted of waking up numerous times in an attempt to locate a cooler area or to completely remove the blanket from my bed. From this point on, I am able to sleep for an extended period of time, often clocking in between seven and eight hours without making any adjustments. I have seen a tremendous change in my morning energy levels: I am now feeling more energetic, clear-headed, and much more eager to take on the challenges of the day. Another facet that left an impression on me was the adaptability it exhibited over the year. The cooling function is at its peak on nights with higher temperatures, but I also put it through its paces during a short spring cold. A delicate barrier that maintained a lovely warmth around me without suffocating me was given by the blanket, which prevented me from experiencing an excessively chilly sensation. As a result of its smooth transition between cooling and mild warmth, I have been able to keep it on the bed throughout the whole year, meaning that I no longer have to switch out my bedding whenever the temperature changes.

I absolutely love this blanket! I’m not sure how it works, but it really does. It feels instantly cool to the touch, which is perfect for hot sleepers (or after mowing the lawn on a hot day) While it can warm up a bit if it stays in one spot on your skin for too long, even a slight shift reveals another cool area—it’s like built-in temperature relief. Highly recommend for anyone who needs help staying comfortable at night!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I ordered this blanket because I live in Southern California and don't have an AC in my bedroom. I'm typically able to keep the room cool enough to sleep in through creative use of multiple fans. My biggest dilemma is that I like to sleep with something more weighty than a sheet, but most blankets that had enough weight were too warm. Enter this blanket. This blanket is soft, feeling more like a silk sheet than the sportswear feeling that most cooling blankets have. I have sensory issues and this is a great-feeling fabric for me. The blanket does feel initially cool to the touch but will warm up as you're using it. I find that the biggest benefit in this blanket is that it cools down quickly. I've gotten up in the middle of the night to get more water with the blanket feeling warm. By the time I get my water, drink some, and get back into bed, I've found the blanket cool again -- less than five minutes. I've also flipped the blanket off for a few minutes, allowed it to cool for a few minutes and flipped it back to a refreshing feel. Overall, the blanket works for my purpose. The blanket is as pictured. As another reviewer mentioned, it is a bit smaller than the standard size (my standard queen comforter is several inches bigger than this queen). I recommend getting one blanket for each person. I did find it a bit pricey ($200 at time of review) for what you get, but the real test will be how durable the blanket is, withstanding multiple washes a month since the manufacturer recommends using without a top sheet.

TL;DR: this blanket is soft and has a nice weight and feel to it, especially in drier, air conditioned environments. It feels great when you pull a previously unused portion over you and I am sleeping better with it. This is my second “cooling” blanket. The first was made of lyocell, which is honestly a great fabric, though it will pill a lot (as natural soft fibers do). If you have night sweats but not hot flashes, I’d probably recommend the much cheaper lyocell as it’s moisture wicking. Outlast is sort of a different beast. Rather than a type of fabric, it indicates a specific technology using (mostly rapeseed) wax - sometimes imbedded in the fabric, sometimes coated on. I’m not exactly which specific application this blanket uses, or whether it’s on the outside or part of the filling. The fabric itself in this case is nylon & spandex with 100% polyester filling. There’s a fire warning on it and I wouldn’t recommend using it if you’re a smoker (also be careful with candles). We live about an hour from Lake Michigan and our humidity is really variable. In the winter it’s super dry because of the furnace, but in the summer it’s just all over the place. Spring tends to be the worst for humidity here (maybe because we don’t set up the a/c until June or July) and I will say when I try to use this blanket when it’s humid the blanket goes from being soft to feeling like I’m sleeping under bubble wrap. I really thought I wasn’t going to like it. But when it’s dry? It’s beautiful. I’m using a queen size all to myself (excepting the pups) and when I do wake up in the night, which is not nearly so often, I move around the blanket so a previously unused potion is over me and it’s just so cool against my skin and feels great. The top is very slick like bike shorts, so pet hair is easy to clean off it, and it goes in the washer (cold, gentle) and dryer (low) fine, making it easy to keep clean. The slickness can make it hard for small pets to walk on, and if you make your bed and then sit on it (or have a cat walk across it), it will instantly look like a mess. I end up folding this one up during the day and using a different comforter to make the bed that stays in place better. It folds down quite small, which is really nice. While it is cooling when I’m hot, I often have cold flashes and it does not exacerbate those, which I was worried about. I do think it often doesn’t work as well as it could for me as my skin temperature and how I feel differs so much so often, and that sometimes it feels like it’s regulating to the dogs instead of me. A last note that it’s not a weighted blanket, with either those benefits or detractors (folding!), but I do like the weight of it. It’s not oppressive, but it is present and I like the feeling. It feels almost weightless folded up, so it’s interesting how it doesn’t feel like that when it’s on me.
