    • FINALLY...a Helmet for My Head!

I've been searching for a helmet (bicycle, motorcycle, etc.) that would fit my head for the last 35 years (since my college bicycle/moped days). I have 24.5" head, but it's also more oval than round shaped front to back, so that makes my head size actually much larger than the 24.5" of a measuring tape. Fast forward 35 years to the present and I just bought a cargo ebike (Rad Power Bikes RadWagon), which actually more moped/motorcycle than it is bicycle. I really love this ebike, but having 35 more years of common sense (and feeling a lot less immortal) I knew I really needed to be wearing a helmet with it. After still failing to find a skateboard/bicycle helmet for my head, I decided to search for motorcycle helmets, specifically the half helmet/skullcap type, which wouldn't look completely overkill when worn riding a fat tire cargo ebike. On a long shot, I actually searched for a 66cm helmet, but I practically did a little jig of excitement finding this helmet with an almost 69cm 4XL size! And not a bad price either! I still had my doubts though as I waited for it to arrive. I took it out of the box, put it on my large dome, and hallelujah! It actually fit! Yeah, I look a little like Toad the Mario Kart character with a bit of a mushroom head, but hey -- it's a helmet for my had that took 35 years to find! I'm extremely happy with my ebike, but even more so now that I'm not risking my life riding it without a helmet. All that said, the helmet is also very well made, very comfortable, excellent chin strap (easy to operate putting it on and off), not too hot (I live in N FL), and although I don't know how well it would do in a high speed motorcycle crash, I feel it will protect me very well in a 25mph ebike crash. About the only thing negative I can say about it was really difficult to snap the visor on the helmet. Other than that -- perfect. I would gladly pay 2x the price for this helmet, and I was actually looking at plenty of bicycle helmets that actually are 2x the price. ... show more

I bought this for bicycle riding. I need a larger size than most bicycle helmets come in. For about the same price, this has superior protection. Will use it in the fall and cold weather riding as it can get hot in the summer vs. a traditional bicycle helmet. I bought the “used” offering and was pleased with item when arrived.     • beware of the mushroom head...of safety
so yeah it makes my head look like a mushroom, but I like don't care, it feels sturdy and looks great overall. Now I've never owned a "real" motorcycle helmet so under the padding in the helmet its just a thick layer of Styrofoam. I'm guessing that's the sturdiness factor I'm feeling but I honestly have no clue if that's the norm. I ride a bicycle but this thing looked dope so I went for it and it definitely has some weight to it compared to a regular bicycle helmet. I measured my head before choosing a size I was between an XL and the XXL but read some other reviews stating there was some sizing issues if you have a moderately large melon, as do I. XXL was definitely the wiser choice for myself (23.8 in roughly). I mean I have big ears so I have to tuck them under a little but its not uncomfortable, but hey that's just me. It came nicely packaged in a nice little helmet bag, with a little helmet du-rag I'm guessing for helmet hair(?), a little keychain and some sort of welcome to the world of your helmet pamphlet. I hate the Visor on the helmet. But within the timeframe I needed it, I could not find one that didn't have a Visor. Overall it's good quality. It's really stiff the first couple times, that's why it's not so comfortable. My husbands stretched out, and I'm hoping mine will too. They may be "lightweight", but they are incredibly heavy on your head. Luckily, I only had to wear it for a short time till we got to our hotel in Tennessee. But then again I come from a state that has no helmet laws. So I may just be picky. Overall, GREAT PRODUCT! ... show more
