  • The manual you wanted with your 5Diii
Great reference to get you started on the basics of the 5Diii as well as the more intricate aspects of its advaced 61 point focusing system. Busch covers a wide range of topics not only on the camera and it's vast features and capabilities but also lenses, accessories, storage cards, flash heads and more. Whether you read it from front to back or as a reference manual to suit your needs, this book is extremely helpful to anyone that owns a 5D III. More experienced photogs can delve right into the advanced features explained while the novice will get the basics and beyond as fast as they can digest. The 5Diii is a serious investment with more features than most people are likely to use but as you learn and grow into it this book will continue to be a great reference to go back to. It's more than a manual supplement and will appeal to the owner who wants to maximize their understanding of the 5Diii's capabilities and the how's and why's of using them. ... show more

  • David Busch A Master of Explanation
David Busch does it all for camera owners who want to know everything about the camera they have. I have a Canon 5D lll, Canon 5D ll, Canon 7D, Canon 40D. Each of these cameras I purchased a David Busch book for. He covers everything from taking the camera out of the box, what's in the box, all controls totally explained, suggested settings for specific conditions, suggested lens, etc, etc, etc! These books will Make you a better expert of your camera! I don't know about you but with camera equipment being as expensive as it is, I want to know everything about what I just paid so much money for! As a struggling pro his books make my photos look better because I know How to use my camera better! Make yourself a better photog! Buy a David Busch book about your camera! It will Be well worth your efforts! ... show more

  • The holy grail of reference materials
I have heard so much about Daves books and after buying my 5D3 last year, I wanted to get more insight to all the ins and outs of the camera. As we all know, the manual that comes with the camera is boring, dry and doesn't give you the whys about the camera, only the whats. I tried to read through the Canon manual and it was just putting me to sleep and would not keep my interest. So I opted to get Daves books, both the main guide and the compact field guide. The book keeps me amused with Daves comedic sense of humor but more so, is extremely detailed and tells you everything you need to know on how to operate the camera and as well, why you should operate it a certain way versus what the Canon manual says. Thats the most important aspect of the book, it answers the why, how and whats. Extremely satisfied with the content of the book and highly recommend it to anyone that wants more education on your camera. ... show more

  • Good reference, amoung others to use.
This is the third book by David D. Busch that I've purchased (his 30D, 7D and this 5D). It's a long read and I definitely have ADHD (back in the 50's they would just tell you to settle down and behave). Whoopee, now I have a disorder! Anyway, I wouldn't suggest throwing your Canon instructional manual away. In fact, go to the Canon website and you can download the entire 404 pages in a 8.5 x 11 format. Put them in a 3 ring binder using plastic protectors. Yes I know, it's time consuming, but it's well worth it. Besides, I can't see the tiny print on the pitifully small Canon manual. Mr. Busch is a bit wordy, but I guess you have to do that or the book gets to much like a technical reference manual. He includes some various vendors/manufactures of products he owns/uses and recommends. This has been very helpful. I have actually purchased several of the items he suggested. I would personal suggest that you absorb all the information about your new little baby 5D as you can. This includes not only a book (or two), your Canon manual, but also a DVD like the Blue Crane Digital series offered here on Amazon. No one source has everything, so get as much information as you can. After all, you paid mucho dinero for this 5D, make sure you know at least most of it's capabilities. ... show more

  • The Big Book Manuel Far Beyond the Factory Manual
Worth the wait in finally getting published... I am happy to add this volume to my other Canon references by David Busch. As always, I bow to the master in presenting the finer details in more depth and with colorful and informative text and illustrations. David's contribution to the field of photography is always masterful and he even makes it more fun learn! Once again he hits the high mark in presenting not only the Canon 5D Mark III, but all the Canon Flash and many other accessories to boot. This is a "must have" reference for users at all levels of experience! ... show more

  • Guide to Digital SLR Photography
As a first time full frame SLR buyer but a previous APS-C user, I could pick up the Canon 5D Mark III and use it but was not knowledgeable enough about all the features this camera had. I had previewed other books but found David Busch's book far more comprehensive. It is now forcing me to take the camera and go back through all the features step by step using his book as a handy study guide. I think we to often take the simpler approach to using a cameras automatic features and end up not making full use of all the features built into the camera. With the 5d III, you have a really powerful tool that can get so much more out of your photography. David's book provides a real helpful tool in that training. ... show more
