TLDR: *I did wipe a layer of Outlast Dedorant before application as extra caution. *I am skinny fat, I am not used to hiking nor are my feet, my feet 3 days later are still fine. My thighs are not. These felt like small little cushions. I thought they were going to be too tight in the ankles but they leveled out. I experienced zero running, chaffing or, blisters while hiking or any tenderness post hiking. They kept my feet dry from a little water that had seeped through my boot and very warm on concrete without shoes on. Expensive, yes. Worth being able to walk without blisters after hiking a national park - priceless. I didn’t complain about my feet once. In comparison Walmart and Targets socks are not as thick or well made as these and didn’t want to take the risk. ... show more

As a buyer of Darn Tough socks in the past I return again and again. I've often found the merino wool durable, warm, and ideal for all uses. The wool breathes better than cotton and even in the summer time I'm comfortable. These particular socks are designed heavier, it seems more for winter use. I wear a size 12 shoe, a 13 sneaker and this sock fits perfect as an XL. Thick all the way around the foot. I think if you near or straddling sizes, go to the larger size sock. Thick and comfortable.
