  • Adam & Echo: A Berserker & An Omega Find True Love! 5 Stars!
Format: Kindle
Adam & Echo: A Berserker & An Omega find True Love! 5 stars! I love the Omegaverse and its dystopian backdrop. So, choosing to read this book was a no-brainer. But OMG! I wasn't ready for all the feels! In short, I loved it! Echo is a newly ascended Omega. Anyone know knows anything about the Omegaverse knows that this spells trouble, as Omegas are gifted with power and this power is up for grabs to any Alpha who manages to mate and bond them. As Echo struggles to survive in Trash City and outrun Alphas, she finds herself captured and bonded to something much worse than an Alpha, A Berserker. Berserker Adam rules over Dark City. The fates directed him to Trash City, where his destiny apparently lies in a feisty Omega named Echo. Together they must learn to trust and rely on each other to survive a growing threat on the horizon. Author Elizabeth Stephens breathed life into two phenomenal characters. I loved Adam and Echo! They were so evenly matched in passion and temperament. Their love scenes were spicy and the connection between these two was magnetic. The masterfully written dual POV gives you a deep look into Echo's plight. Her inner monologue is so deep and tragic, it will have you misty-eyed and break your heart. Adam's pursuit of Echo throughout the book and quest to keep her safe went way beyond the need for more power and control of Echo and her gifts. She was his entire universe and he only person to emotionally and physically restore beauty and color to his life. The spicy dialect/ dialogue from Adam, engaging secondary characters and phenomenal world-building makes this entire novel satisfying and worthwhile. I couldn't put it down! I finished it in a day! This is an excellent novel for lovers of dystopian romance. This book ends in more of a HFN than HEA as their love story is complete, but the main plot is still developing and unfolding. I cannot wait to see secondary character, Lord Yaron, to take center stage and find his Omega in book two. I highly recommend you read this book! It's fantastic! Happy Reading! ... show more

  • My First Omegaverse
Format: Paperback
I don't think I've read an Omegaverse book before and after research, I now know there are certain terms like "knotting", "Alpha, Omega, Betas" that are used, and the world is run by pheromones basically (or at least that is what I get from this book) anyway...on to Dark City Omega and my reaction. As someone who is used to Stephens' Xiveri Mates, I expected the same level of heat and suspense and I definitely got that. Echo kind of got on my nerves, but I must understand she is from Trash City and is a Beta. If she ascends to Omega, the Berserkers will be able to "sniff" her out and oh boy do the games begin. I love the character growth in Echo, but for some reason, I adored Adam more. Yes, he is a Berserker but seemed to have more heart than she. Granted, she is mad at him for how he handled things and I agree with her, but as I said in my book club: Echo is kind of stubborn. I must warn you though....this book is filthy!🤮 You may wonder what I mean, but whatever you are thinking, is probably it, lol! Overall the story was a great intro to a new world of creatures and such-- and has amazingly, hot, funky sex, but I think the way the book ended will definitely lead to a second part and the book lost only half a star(I give it a strong 4.5) because somewhere towards the end, the scenes got a bit rushed and muddled. I'm still looking forward to the next book though! ... show more

  • Slow but interesting read
Format: Kindle
I really love the concept of this book, and I’m glad I saw it through to the end. Finishing it felt like a real accomplishment. Not because it wasn’t good, but because it demands patience. The worldbuilding is intense and incredibly well done. The author has clearly crafted a layered universe with rules, magic, power, history, and depth. I could feel how much thought and intention went into building the world. That alone kept me engaged, even when the pacing started to feel slow. That said, the journey from Paradise HOLE AND Trash City to Dark CITY stretched on a bit too long for me. It wasn’t completely unnecessary, but it could have been shortened. A lot of the tension and real action didn’t start until about 200 pages in. That made the first half feel like a waiting room, where we were mostly just following Echo and the Berserker for several chapters. Once the conflict began to unfold, things became much more exciting and layered. I just wish that energy had arrived earlier. So yes, I love this book for its world, its ideas, and the ambition behind it. But I’m also relieved to have made it to the other side ... show more

  • Spicy twist on a shifter story
Format: Kindle
I binged this in a day. I was a little confused at the beginning but as the world building progressed, I was able to find my footing. I throughly enjoyed the idea of Omega’s not truly being the weakest in the pack or world. Their powers alone give them all the advantages of a Berserker, when they learn how to use it. Adam and Echo start their journey with a deadly injury and so much hatred you can choke on it. These two learn how to survive not only their injuries but each other. Adam who doubts his worth and his ability to protect. The struggles of his past have shaped him into the leader that he is. His inner circle knows they can be honest without fear of being killed or thrown out of the city. He wants to make a change, he just needed the push and support of his Omega. Echo would rather die than be bonded and sentenced to a life of servitude. That is the only path for an Omega. In one night, she lost her friends, her home, and her freedom all become she ascended to an Omega. Worse than that, no powers came with it…or so she thought. Echo still wants to trust others but her past has made her bitter and hateful. You are taken through a world where everyone starts as a Beta until they ascended into Berserker, Alpha, or Omega. Elizabeth Stephens created a fantastic foundation to the start of a series. You are left on a slight cliffhanger but our main characters plot is nicely written. ... show more
