  • The Best Hiking Boots I Have Ever Had
Size: 10.5 Color: Rich Brown
This boot, Danner's Mountain 600, is hands down the most comfortable hiking boot I have ever had the pleasure to wear--and this right out of the box. No break in! This is the hallmark of a good boot. If it doesn't feel right right away it's going to be wrong all the time in my experience. I'm 70 and I bought these boots to replace my almost 20-year-old boots that have about 25,000 miles on them (not exaggerating). I lost track of how many times they were resoled. They are Havana Joe's Chukka boots, which I wore with an insert. Talk about a tough boot! So those are going in the trunk of my car for emergency wear. And these great Danner's boots are now my every day hiking boot. I just returned from an after-dinner one-hour fast hike in the dusk in the hills around my home. I can't say enough about the comfort level--buy these boots and you won't be sorry. The grip is great, the ankle support is just right without overdoing it. I should mention that I do have a hard to fit foot. My ankle is narrow and doesn't like slipping around (whose do?), I also have a high arch and am often troubled by shoes that hurt the top of my foot. My toe span is wider in relation to my ankle and those toes like a good deal of room. So Danner's boots addressed all these issues for me beautifully. A true 10 1/2 D is my fit, though my right foot would probably like a 10 3/4 D!! But the toe box is generous and my right foot was just as happy as my left foot. I was a bit hesitant about buying a hiking boot without trying it on but I was fortunate that Danner's sizes their boots just right--so 10 1/2 D it is. I hope this recommendation helps out any of you who read this. Happy hiking! ... show more

  • BEST boots I ever owned
Size: 10.5 Wide Color: Jet Black/Dark Shadow
Best pair of boots I've ever had! VERY comfortable; like walking on air. A tad of rubbing at he ankles, so I just folded down a pair of heavy wool sock until I receive the ankle gel straps I ordered. This is the first time I got a new pair of boots and didn't have to replace the footpads with more comfortable, supportive ones. The footbeds are very comfortable and supportive and don't trigger my neuroma pain, as has happened with previous boot Lastly, VERy easy to lace and unlace! ... show more

  • Flawless
Size: 10 Color: Chocolate Chip/Golden Oak
This is the best hiking boot I have ever worn. I bought them for a hike in Crater Lake, OR. It's extremely lightweight, durable, waterproof, and warm. Best feature is the comfort. It's not heavy or clunky. Probably one of the most comfortable boots or shoe I have ever worn. That includes running shoes (Hoka, On Cloud, Asics). There was no need to break the boot in prior to the 3.5 day, 35 mile hike with elevations ranging from 900 to 1200 feet each day. Will definitely buy again. ... show more

  • Boots That Don't Disappoint from a Brand I've Trusted for Over 25 Years.
Size: 10.5 Color: Brown/Red
I've owned these boots for four years, and I'm so impressed by them that I decided to come back and write a proper recommendation. First, the brand has always been 100% reliable for me, having worn Danner's for over twenty-five years in the Fire/EMS service. Always comfortable, durable, and worth the premium you pay for good footwear. So when I needed a pair of hiking boots, I figured I would give them a try. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, I was surprised at how comfortable they were right out of the box, and even after extended hours of use. Note - I have NOT worn these in wet conditions, and I'm not a technical hiker, so I can't offer any feedback relating to those uses. Otherwise, I'm 100% satisfied with the purchase, and I am happy to recommend these for extended casual use. ... show more

  • (Mostly) Awesome pair of boots!
I bought these in the dark brown suede, and they look and feel great. As others have pointed out, they don't breathe very well (or at all), so I couldn't imagine wearing them on hikes in hotter weather. The inside liner (Danner Dry) is almost like a thin layer of plastic, so by the end of the day, my feet are definitely a little sweaty. However, I bought these to wear in a more casual setting (I work in academia), so I'm usually sporting them with jeans and a flannel or sweater to work, with the idea that they could also double as hikers if I travel someplace where I might hit some trails (although I haven't tested them on any terrain yet). They definitely run a little large in both width and length. I'm a consistent 8.5 in every shoe I own, but bought these in 8 and they fit perfectly. I also have "slightly" wide feet, so I'm usually in between medium and wide widths, but the medium width fit just fine....so if you're only slightly wide, you'll probably be fine with medium. They're also made of leather, so any tightness you may feel at first will stretch out after a day or two of wear. To summarize, as someone who hikes a bit, I'd be hesitant to use these as my main hiking boots, especially in warmer weather, given their lack of breathability (I have a few pairs of Gore-tex hikers that perform much better in this area), but these boots are really cool, with that classic hiking boot look, and are a great all-around boot that could do some light trail work during the day, (and assuming they don't get too dirty), pair with some jeans for an evening at the pub. I'm already looking to buy another pair in a different color. It's my first pair of Danner's, but probably won't be my last! ... show more

  • Out of the box comfort.
Very impressed with the comfort right out of the box. Size 12w ordered and perfect fit. A light 2 mile hike on day one was better than expected. Good traction on a light snow covered trail. Light weight and very good support.

  • Excellent boot, full stop.
Size: 11 Color: Chocolate Chip/Golden Oak
First pair of hiking boots I've purchased. They're the most comfortable shoe/boot of any kind I've owned. And I own nice brand tennis shoes. Blows away any cowboy/ work boot. They're water proof, very well cushioned, and great ankle support. Feels like you are walking on clouds. During my europe trip I hiked, walked extensively, lite jogged, walked in rain and snow.... and my feet had amlost not fatigue and remained 100% dry. Wear them out of the box, no break in period needed. Truly impressed. Made in Oregon USA? If you can afford them, no brainer. And I even like the color. ... show more
