Have bodyboarded with this for over a month to include yellow flag beach days. The clasp feel secure, and the hat doesn't choke, even when I'm in the wash. It withstands duck dives well too, and actually keeps the waves from slapping my face at times. On easy days, I can go without my contacts and use Croakies to secure my prescription sunglasses to the hat. The mesh near the ears prevents water from splashing in. Love this hat! ... show more

But, I wouldn't wear in big surf. The chin strap isn't great. But, the hat works well. And it's quite pretty.
