  • Excellent product...
Style: Bb Clarinet/Alto Saxophone
Excellent product. I use it all the time to hold my saxophone reeds so I can rotate them out evenly.

  • Reeds for alto saxophone
Style: Bb Clarinet/Alto Saxophone
I bought this seeing that it was cheap and it can hold my reed, it works very well for beginner and it holds the shape of the reeds well. It makes the reeds last lot longer than if you were to keep it in the plastic thing it comes in (don't do that). This product is a bang for buck.

  • Keep your reeds safe
Style: Bb Clarinet/Alto Saxophone
I have several OLD versions of these for my tenor sax reeds. Our daughter gets an alto sax and needs a good reed holder or 2 because I start hammering her with an onslaught of various reeds to see which brand and style she likes... BAD IDEA. Keep It Simple Stupid. At least at first. These work GREAT at keeping your reeds secure, guarding against reed warp and allowing them to air dry. My only quibble is that the tenor version is relatively shorter so some reed heel always protrudes from the end for easy retrieval. For the alto version, you can insert the reed far enough into the holder that it can be difficult to extract with big hands and no fingernails. ... show more

  • Reeds are secure
Style: Bb Clarinet/Alto Saxophone
I like that the reeds are secure in this holder and I don't misplace them or lose them in my bag.. I don't like that I can't see the backs of them. I'm also not sure that they dry well after use, since it appears the reed is stored directly against the plastic.

  • Convenient and compact
Style: Tenor/Baritone Saxophone
Note: The pictures are reversed for this Reed Gard and the smaller one - this Reed Gard fits reeds for the larger single reed instruments, including Alto and Bass Clarinet. I haven't tried it with my Contrabass reeds yet, but I'll bet that they will fit as well. I really like these reed cases, they are cheap, simple, and they just work. I've never damaged a reed using one of these and I've been using them since they first came out - right around the time that fire was discovered, IIRC. The only thing that would make this better would be if the 4 positions were numbered on the case. In lieu of that, I just use a marker to put 1-4 dots on the butt of the reed so I can remember which is which. BTW, I'll be leaving essentially the same review for the smaller case as I want to call attention to the fact that the pictures are reversed (and because I have several of the smaller ones as well!) ... show more

  • It’s for my sons clarinet
Style: Bb Clarinet/Alto Saxophone
Me being a lifelong league guitarist I didn’t even know what a read was for. I just thought it was a silly pic. Come to find out you needed to play clarinet.. neat

  • Intelligently designed, Well executed, Good Quality
Style: Tenor/Baritone Saxophone
Not obvious from the pic are the finely spaced shallow grooves along the contact surface that allow air to circulate under the reed. Without those grooves, moisture would be trapped. This moisture can promote the growth of microorganisms which, amongst other things, release enzymes that could degrade the reed during storage. The grooves have optimized spacing and depth providing proper non-distorting support. When fully inserted into the case, the tip and table of the reed are held flat against this grooved surface inhibiting reed warp. Also not visible in the pic are the miniscule consecutive numbers 1-4 on each compartment. These numbers are very tiny and difficult to see. Compared to the less useful, but very much larger Rico logo they are barely visible. This unit is well made using finely injected quality plastic and with attention to detail. ... show more
