    • Great cost effective fix; accompanying screwdriver is too small. Does have appropriate hex driver.

This comes with two screwdrivers. Actually, one is a hex driver needed to remove the screw that holds on the bin runner. This is essential, unless you have a well stocked tool box with hex drivers. The other screwdriver is worthless. The other screws you need to remove are Philips head screws. A small screwdriver is provided but it is not big enough to remove the screws. From the factory, the screws are very tight (especially those that hold on the battery) and this little screwdriver is not big enough to apply the pressure to remove the screws. You can end up stripping out the heads if you try to use the included screwdriver. Get a screwdriver with a bigger handle, but make sure it has a precision Philips point. If you use too big of a point or it is a worn screwdriver, you risk stripping the heads. Use the instructions on the Amazon website. The box has a QR code to a YouTube video, but an important step is missing from the video. It only took about 15 minutes to replace the bin runner. This is a great cost effective solution. This particular one came in two days. There are other cheaper versions on Amazon, but delivery time is weeks. Some don't come with the hex driver. Dyson doesn't sell the "bin runner" by itself.... they would make you replace the whole body, which costs $130...and they only give a 1 year warranty....mine was 16 months and they wouldn't replace or even give me a discount. Side story: My vacuum stopped working. I spent time on the phone with Dyson and they told me to get a new body. It didn't seem to make sense to me, but I bought one (and this first time they gave me a discount). It didn't fix the problem...so, they said I needed a new battery. That did fix the problem. So, when the little stop on the bin runner broke, I called Dyson to see what kind of solutions they had. The only option they gave me was to replace the whole body at full price. For an $800 vacuum cleaner, I would expect better quality and service. I think you could build your own Dyson V12 from spare parts, much cheaper than buying a complete vacuum. A body is $130; a battery is $130; a charger is $30; a cannister is $30 and then you just need the tube and head. ... show more
