The washer does not come with any cleaning solution as you can use whatever one you would need for the type of paint you are working with. Put the solution in the washer along with the beads and put on the lid. There are 3 clasps that hold the lid firmly in place. So there is no need to empty the solution out after just one use. You can reuse until it no longer works properly. When you are ready to clean your brushes, open the lid and swish the brush around using the beads on the bottom to help remove the paint. You can pull the brush heads through the wringer attachment, helping to remove more excess paint. When you are done and feel the brush is clean, then do a final pull through the wringer to remove excess moisture. Put the lid back on the washer and it will be ready to go the next time you need it. This is a nice solution for someone who might not have a lot of brushes to clean each time and it gets to be a hassle hauling out brush cleaning solution for just one brush. This solves that problem and now cleaning brushes is a snap. I do like this washer and do recommend it.

Review of CUGEBANNA Paint Brush Washer, Airtight Stainless Steel Brush Cleaner for Oil Painting Acrylic, Brush Washer with Cleaning Beads and Wringer I’ve used this type of brush cleaner many times with oil paint. It’s a good way to keep the solvent fumes contained. I can highly recommend it for that purpose. This is a good sized container, larger than my old one. It seals well and the beads do help to gently clean the brushes. Now, while I have used one of these many times for oil paint, I have never used one for acrylic. Since this one had the cleaning beads, I thought I would give acrylic brush cleaning a try. Here’s the thing, with oil paint, the pigment eventually drops out of solution and leaves just the solvent on top. Then you can pour it off into something, clean the bottom with a paper towel and discard the paint. This is not completely the case with acrylic, where I have seen paint suspended in the water for days if left. So the way I used it was to clean my brushes with the water covering the beads as directed then when I finished my painting session, I discarded the paint water, then rinsed the beads and discarded the rinse water. They cleaned up easily that way. Very nice, works with acrylic or oils.

This brush cleaner is top notch. The material it is made of is heavy duty, and the whole thing feels solid and durable. It comes with the ball bearings that help clean your brushes, and they work really well. I use this for acrylic, watercolor, and water soluble oil painting. I have found that I like to do my initial rinsing in another brush cleaner that doesn't have ball bearings first to get the bulk of the paint off, then I use the ball bearings and wringer in this cleaner to really make sure my brushes are thoroughly clean and ready for the next use. It's a great system and keeps the water cleaner in this unit longer. I love that you can pull out the insert with the ball bearings to make changing out the water simple. The only thing I wish this had is a brush holder spring across the top. But I have that on my other cleaner, so I just use that when I'm done cleaning my brushes. Also, the seal on the lid of this cleaner is really good. That with the clamps keeps everything inside the cleaner even when moving it around. Definitely recommend.

i could see this being a lot more useful to someone who paints in oils, as the lid closes tightly to keep the fumes at bay and you don't need to use a lot of solvent to clean brushes. also, as another reviewer has pointed out, with oils, the paint will fall to the bottom and leave the solvent clear at the top and you can pour it off an reuse it, then clean out the bottom. with acrylics, you'd have to let the paint water sit for a lot longer for it to settle like that; it will eventually but just takes longer. i do like the brush rest/wringer insert which comes in handy especially with smaller brushes that you don't want to sit so deeply in the water. i like the metal balls for swishing around the bristles of the brushes, which helps clean them better with less effort. and i like that it's all stainless steel, very rugged and easy to clean. but for acrylic artists, unless you work pretty small and use only small brushes, this won't work all that well as it can only hold a small amount of water and will quickly get too dirty to clean your brush. i'm using it on my painting table with 4 other buckets of water and only using it with small brushes, so it will work for me. but it's not an end-all solution in and of itself. seems a little pricey to me when i'd just as soon use a plastic cup, but if you want something of better quality and nicer looking, this is a great option.

I am using this for acrylic paints and now cleaning my brushes is so easy using this washer. Having the seal on the lid ensures that when I need to go do something and intend to come back, I can close the lid, use the clamps to lock it down, and know that when I come back I will not have spilled paint wash all over my desk. The metal beads do a good job of getting the bristles clean without ruining the brush, and then the wringer smooths everything out and has helped my brushes not do that split apart thing that used to happen with my previous brush cleaner. I like that I can use this with different mediums and cleaners and different types of brushes, and I can easily clean this out when I am done and have it ready to go for the next project. This does not have a brush holder, but I am happy to use this with a stand alone brush holder since this does a better job of cleaning and shaping my brushes helping them to last longer. I am happy with this product.
