i bought this for my dad for christmas! he has been making art and going to classes since before i was alive and his tools haven't changed at all in that time. he's getting older and i want him to be able to make art comfortably, so i felt like a desktop easel was the perfect way to reduce the strain of sitting at a stool or bending over a sketch board/book. i loved that this easel also has storage long enough for brushes and spacious enough for many tubes of paint or drawing essentials. honestly, it has enough space for both! it is pretty sturdy and holds up to minor pressure well due to manual bolts and rubber feet on the bottom to prevent sliding. there is a tiny amount of assembly required, no tools needed. the wood isn't the best quality (some of the edges are a little sharp), but i can't complain for the price. especially since he has always used cigar boxes for his tools! he loved it and can't wait to take it with him especially when he travels. ... show more

Pretty easy to put together and worked great for a paint-a-long night. Can also store a decent amount of paints/brushes too which is nice.

I bought this to do diamond painting. I had always used a table top surface. Now I can just tape the canvas to the board and work upright. 30x40 cm canvases are a bit larger than the board surface but it still works great.

While I plan to use this easel, I do have some quibbles with the design. 1) The interior dividers only go half way up which leaves room for things to jumble completely while being carried. I solved this by cutting a piece of styrofoam packing material to size and using it as a filler. Not perfect but works. 2) the adjustment clamp almost seems like an afterthought. It needs to be adjustable to hold canvases less than 12". This could easily be accomplished by designing the adjustable top clamp to have an external rail or guide to allow it to descend for smaller pieces. This might also allow it to pack flush and not interfere with the carrying handle. ... show more
