This is a little hard to put together by yourself, you definitely have to be creative. It's pretty forgiving if you mess up something, make sure all of the metal bars are facing the right way and the holes are matching. Quick tip, put together the upper shelf first before attaching to the top of the desk, the pieces of wood are heavy and there's no reason the back part needs to be put on last (and if the desk is already in place, that top shelf should be against a wall and already hard to maneuver around, so I'm not sure why that's the last step) Sturdy and pretty!! ... show more

I picked this desk because of the price and didn't read far enough into it's design. While other desks advertise being able to choose HOW you want your desk to go together (whether you want the shelves to your left or your right) this desk does not have that option. Is that a deal breaker? Not for me, but only because I have a drill, so I was able to make the hole needed for the support screw to go through. The desk will also need a cord hole, but I also have the tool for that. If you don't have these tools- I recommend spending the extra $50 to get a desk that has all these features. ... show more

I love my new desk so much! It looks so nice, and you can really personalize it with whatever trinkets you wish to put on it. The only downsides I have are that if you are into gaming, your pc will likely not fit in the designated area for it. Luckily mine was thin enough that it could fit, however it was too tall and I had to remove one of the wood shelves in order to make it work. That might not be an issue for some people though and it isn't something I'm upset about or anything! Just something to look out for if your PC is larger. It was rather tricky to build. You could theoretically build this as one person, but you will struggle greatly during some steps, especially during the end when you are installing the cubbies of the hutch. The instructions are not very clear. There are no words, it is a picture book that you have to squint in order to see where certain holes need to be facing. It may be very difficult for some people to understand due to that, and you'll have to redo steps in order to fix mistakes. Other than that, however, it isn't too terrible to build. Just make sure to stretch and take breaks, as this can take anywhere between 1 to 4+ hours to build by yourself. Great desk, very sturdy, roomy, and you can fill it with lots of personality.
