I was hesitant to buy this because of a few bad reviews but I am very glad I bought it anyways! It turned out to be a quality piece of furniture (heavy too). I think that anyone who complains of this not being sturdy had issues with putting it together because mine is rock solid. My husband and I lifted it by the two holes on the back and the lid and had zero sense that anything was coming loose. Because it is so heavy, it was a little difficult to get in from the front porch by myself. It took me, a small and relatively handy gal, and hour and a half start to finish to assemble this. You don’t need any power tools- just a Phillips screwdriver. Any other tools you need are included. The instructions were very clear and include both diagrams and written directions. I put the whole thing together by myself but there is one small part where it could be helpful to have an extra set of hands, but if you are able-bodied and careful, you can do it without help. The wood does feel like and look like solid wood, so if it is a veneered compressed board, it doesn’t feel like it. The right side of the cabinet does have addition storage for records if you choose to have both shelves close together at the top. There are two holes for cords on the back- one in the record player side and one on the other half. I have an Audio Technica record player and it fit with some wiggle room. If you have one of those suitcase players it probably wouldn’t fit. I have around 50 records and have room for my collection to grow. I love that they will be able to be stored free from dust when the cabinet doors are closed. If you are looking for a really nice cupboard for your record player, this is it. I can see myself having this cabinet for a very long time. It is just as nice as my buffet table that I bought from a furniture store. A+! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I bought this for a few reasons: it has a mid-century modern design, it is designed to hold a record player and records, and it comes in a stain/color I love. I had a few worries going in: would this be sturdy enough? Would the top hutch fit my record player? I’m now at an age where I don’t want to buy furniture and put it together only to realize it’s basically going to fall apart after a year. Additionally, I was primarily buying this because I wanted to store my records and record player safely so buying it only to have the record player not fit would be a disappointment. Luckily, this piece is near perfect. It is extremely sturdy, the top hutch fits my record player, and I have room for all my records, speakers, and random items in the shelves. It has cleared up a lot of visual clutter in my office while also fulfilling my needs. I’m really happy with the color, and it looks great with my vintage lamp. The only reason why I took off a star was because of the sliding doors. The left side door doesn’t slide easily. The closer you get to closing it, the tighter it gets and the harder it becomes. I tried taking some of the pieces apart to loosen some bolts in the hopes that it would allow more room for the door to slide easily, but it didn’t really help. To be frank, I think it has something to do with the design because when I lift up the left side of the door and slide it shut, it closes comparatively easily. I can’t say enough great things about my whole experience thus far with this Crosley console. I’ve been contemplating purchasing it for nearly a year now and finally decided to give it a try as an early Father’s Day present for my husband to pair with his turntable that I fixed after being out of commission for over 2 years. The shipment arrived nearly a week earlier than expected, the packaging had minimal damage and all of the pieces were well protected with minimal damage (the handles were packaged together without any wrapping between them so there were some visible scratches from where they rubbed together during transit but nothing too crazy. It took me less than 1.5 hours to unbox, assemble, clean up and move this console into place all on my own. I was blown away with how easy it was to assemble and how sturdy the construction is. I even let my 3 year old help. No missing parts and the directions were very clear. No flimsy cardboard backing or painted particle board. It’s veneered wood but really does look nice and for the money you’re really getting a deal on the quality you get. Given the fact that we have a couple of young toddlers running around and the trend for mid century modern will be outdated in the not so distant future, this console is definitely sturdy enough to take us beyond trend life and abuse by tots. I highly recommend it. It looks great and fit our most played records and our record player great. The only thing that would have been would have been to set it up so you could put record racking in both sides of the cabinet. I will likely drill a higher set of holes for the pins to move the shelves up a little higher so we can instal racks for more records on the other side and have 2 narrow shelf options for miscellaneous storage. ... show more
