Very nice piece of furniture. It looks wonderful in my living room. It holds my stereo and its components and all my albums I collected in the 70s and 80s. I love that I can lift the top to play my records. It reminds me of the stereo cabinet my parents had in the 60s and 70s. I love it so much! Very retro, mid century looking. Easy to assemble but time consuming. Made of wood, sturdy and a versatile piece of furniture. Highly recommend.

I am very pleased with how this piece looks. Also, I am very pleased with the quality of the wood. It's heavy enough to have a substantial feel that cheap furniture lacks. I like the functionality with one criticism. The good parts are the hinged lid has a nice action and means my turntable is protected when not in use... and when in use. The area underneath has good smart and useful dividers. And the left side has moveable shelves which can accommodate accessories... or I might even turn it into a liquor cabinet. My criticism is this: The space for the turntable is tight. Mine fit, but you can see in the photos that my power and RCA cords are squeezed very tight and barely fit. Also, if your turntable has a plastic cover that hinges open, you almost certainly wont be able to leave it on. So, I'd recommend you measure your turntable and make sure it will fit. I also had one blemish on the console which is unfortunately right on the front of the hinged lid. Not a huge deal to me... I will fill it with some color and call it good. Overall I would give it a 9/10, losing one point for the tight space for the turntable. I'm really pleased otherwise.

Worth It If You Measure Carefully or Are Willing To Modify

This console is very attractive and well built. It takes a little while to put together, and I would highly advise doing so on some sort of carpet or moving blanket, as the veneer finish is relatively easy to scratch. The MDF that it's made of it quite durable, and it uses pretty decent cam locks to hold it together. It's heavy, sturdy and doesn't move, bend or creak when you pick it up and move it after assembly. The shelves on the left side seemed kinda thin at 1/2", but they support my 20ish pound amp just fine. The record holders are pretty sturdy, and I like that they're removable. The arm and hinges for the pull-up door installed pretty easily and work very well. I would advise being careful with the plastic hardware in the top of the door tracks, as it seems like it could be easy to mess up if proper technique isn't used during installation of the doors. All in all, I'm pleased with the appearance and build quality for the price, but it would be nice if it had a higher quality veneer (can't expect real hardwood at this price in your wildest dreams). I love the idea of this console, and for that reason I went ahead and bought it, knowing that I may have to make some adjustments. The integrated amplifier I ordered would have about 2" of depth clearance according to the measurements, which I knew would likely be too tight, but I ordered this console anyway because it was the best looking option for me. Even with right angled connectors on all of the RCA and speaker wire connections in the back, the amp measurements didn't account for the knobs on the front, which add about 3/4" to the depth. I'm also quite sure that the depth measurement for the compartment on the left of the console doesn't account for the inner sliding door, which takes up an additional inch and some change when you slide it open to access your records in the bottom right of the console, so I was forced to make the hole in the back of the left side much larger with a router. I've seen others in the comments have similar issues with the turntable section, which I haven't experienced. I have a Fluance RT85 turntable, and due to a bit of luck with the position of the RCA outputs, it fits pretty well without the hinges for the dust cover (I still place the cover on it, but the hinges don't have space to operate). Pics included. Overall the design would be much more convenient with larger access slots in the back, or multiple holes to avoid the modifications needed to fit more people's needs. I do appreciate the material quality and looks, which is why I still think it's a good overall value. You just have to be very attentive to measurements (account for about 2-3" of space for cable connections, 1.5-3" for right angles, always assume the knob/buttons aren't included in the depth measurement for amps, and understand that you're working with at least an automatic inch or two less depth in the left compartment of this console due to the sliding doors) or be willing to break out the drill and/or router.

It looked pretty good coming out of the box—was going to be 5 stars. Here’s what happened: It lost one star because it’s pressboard with veneer. And not the greatest veneer. The edges splinter very easily. It lost another star because there is one hole drilled in the back of the turntable spot for wires, but that’s it. Want to use and amp? Get ready to drill. Want a tuner? Get ready to drill. Want a CD player? Well, that’s got holes! Nope, not really, you have to drill for that too! It lost another star because it’s not deep enough for standard audio component sizes. Well, actually it is, but only if your wires add absolutely no depth to the back. It’s like they looked up the size of a component, made the shelf exactly that size and not a millimeter bigger. If your wires need more than 1 mm to stick out the back, you can’t close the doors. I ended up just cutting a 5x17 window in the back so my receiver’s ass can hang out the back. And the legs are crap. They’re held on by two short bolts into anchors mounted into pressboard with veneer. If you lean on it, the anchors will pull out. If your kid pokes it, the anchors will pull out. If your dog pees on it, pray to god it’s a straight downward stream, cause any side stream will generate enough sideways force that the anchor bolts will tear out. I’m thinking of taking the legs off and putting it on blocks for that hipster, urban grunge look. Since this is obviously all about looks anyway.

Beautiful cabinet. The wood is nice for composite wood (don't expect maple quality or the like). It's been a year and I haven't scratched the veneer so I would say it's a competent quality finish. The doors slide nicely as they should, the hinges to the flip-up work well. I'm not handy by any means but I put the cabinet together by myself in a few hours.

Laminate!

I bought this because it purported to be “wood” (I assumed solid wood, but even veneer would have been acceptable) and because of the decent reviews. I will start this off with 2 points — it generally looks nice, but it is NOT wood. Halfway through the IKEA-esque assembly, my husband realized we were given 2 right sides, no left. So back this will go. I’ve already ordered a replacement, because given the sale price, I’m willing to forgive. At full price? Absolutely not. Looks-wise, we liked it. Function-wise, it’s great! There are very few stereo cabinets that have a lid, but on top of the lid, this one is a sturdy piece with a cool mid-century vibe. What’s ticking me off is that it’s laminate. And I don’t mean durable Formica-like laminate. This is dense particle board with a high-end contact paper on it. How are others even questioning that it might be a wood product? Are there 2 versions out there? Anyway, I gave it 3 stars because it’s not wobbly, it has the look I wanted, and it was a decent price because of the sale. It’s not worth more than 3 stars because it’s NOT wood and I received the wrong parts and have to exchange this big, heavy box.

Nice stereo console - well designed

This is very well designed and high quality. There are lots of pieces and hardware, but the instructions were clear and I was able to put it together by myself. However I really could have used a second person when attaching the right top panel over the turn table section. You really need someone to hold it up while putting in the 4 short screws to hold it in place. I was able to do it after several frustrating tries. The back panel is wood and not some cardboard back. There is a hole on each side in the back to feed cables, etc. (I don't think the spec I viewed prior to buying it showed the back hole on the right for the turn table). The biggest criticism I have regards the last step when installing the left outer door panel. Each sliding door has two pins on the top. The pins have to be "down" to get the door in and then you manually slide the pins up to hold the door in place. I was able to do that for the left pin. But since you have to be able to access the pin on the back of the door to slide it up, I couldn't slide the pin up on the right because the inner sliding door on the right is in the way. They should have designed the pins with a spring that don't require manual manipulation. I was short one screw when assembling it, but it came with extra hardware so crisis averted. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I made sure I measured my equipment first to ensure it would fit in this console.

Really nice piece of furniture

I was hesitant to buy this because of a few bad reviews but I am very glad I bought it anyways! It turned out to be a quality piece of furniture (heavy too). I think that anyone who complains of this not being sturdy had issues with putting it together because mine is rock solid. My husband and I lifted it by the two holes on the back and the lid and had zero sense that anything was coming loose. Because it is so heavy, it was a little difficult to get in from the front porch by myself. It took me, a small and relatively handy gal, and hour and a half start to finish to assemble this. You don’t need any power tools- just a Phillips screwdriver. Any other tools you need are included. The instructions were very clear and include both diagrams and written directions. I put the whole thing together by myself but there is one small part where it could be helpful to have an extra set of hands, but if you are able-bodied and careful, you can do it without help. The wood does feel like and look like solid wood, so if it is a veneered compressed board, it doesn’t feel like it. The right side of the cabinet does have addition storage for records if you choose to have both shelves close together at the top. There are two holes for cords on the back- one in the record player side and one on the other half. I have an Audio Technica record player and it fit with some wiggle room. If you have one of those suitcase players it probably wouldn’t fit. I have around 50 records and have room for my collection to grow. I love that they will be able to be stored free from dust when the cabinet doors are closed. If you are looking for a really nice cupboard for your record player, this is it. I can see myself having this cabinet for a very long time. It is just as nice as my buffet table that I bought from a furniture store. A+!
