I tried this one more time before returning, I discovered I had to keep the inner bowl inserted before trying to loosen the cap. Now I can open it with greater ease. I’m glad I discovered this and now I am keeping it. It’s perfect for my office use. I don’t need to run to the community microwave but even better is the flavor of my food. The item I bought was one of those discounted, it didn’t include instructions which is why I struggled. I’m glad this is working out, this is really pretty, functional, and small so I can take it everywhere. As a teacher, this has got to be the most GENIUS item that I have ever been gifted/gifted to others. This item warms up not just soup, but smaller meals, in 30 min/less. I had a coworker that even plugged it in for up to 3-4 hours and she stated that it did not burn her food. My workplace only has a microwave as a means of heating food. I find that microwaves don't cook the food uniformly and usually makes me very aware that I am eating leftovers. This mini-crock pot uniformly heats the food to the perfect temperature and the leftovers taste more like they did when they were first cooked. The crock-pot was smaller than I had imagined, but that turned out to be a bonus because it's easier to pack and transport. I also like the idea that I can leave the actual crock-pot at work and simply bring the inner container to and from work. The twist on seal is very secure and, in my opinion, is far more secure to transport than a Tupperware-type container. The inner container holds almost an entire can of Juanita's soups...Almost. You'll have to leave out 5+oz of broth to avoid overfilling, otherwise you'll make a big mess (don't ask how I know). If I had read the can I would have discovered that it contains 25oz of soup. This 20oz crock-pot means exactly 20oz. An entire can of Juanitas is pretty filling though, so the size of the inner container is nearly perfect as far as I'm concerned. 5 more oz would make it completely perfect am I right @Crock-Pot Brand. :-p Other reviewers have mentioned that the lid is hard to remove after cooking, and that is true; however, the solution is to remove the rubber steam vent before untwisting the inner lid. The drop in pressure will make the lid way easier to twist off. I never saw a user's manual in my box but If there is one then this tip should be in it. :-D As long as this product remains reliable I expect to get a lot of use out of it. Okay I’m from Texas so queso is just a must for like football games, taco night, movie night, whatever. This is so perfect for it! Yes, it could be used to take your lunch to work but for me it’s my favorite item to pull out for dip. It holds around 15 ounces comfortably which is the size of a jar of salsa. Great buy! Easy, affordable and warmed my soup quickly. I was able to put it in my work purse and it was bulky or heavy. It didn’t spill in my purse or with the commute over to work from home. I was able to use the cord and store it back under the crockpot. I have all of my coworkers buying them, so now we no longer have to use the community microwave. The only issue that I had was when I warmed up my soup, so condensation did spill out from the top, I’m not sure if I put too much soup in it but I’ll try again and keep an update afterwards. ... show more
