I had watched different videos that show how to use smart materials with a Maker without a mat, but I chose to use a standard grip mat and the design cut perfectly. I don't usually purchase the cricut branded products because I find I can get the same or similar quality for less. However, I have not ventured into the smart HTV since I already had a stash of regular HTV that I wanted to use up, I figured this was a good time. Most store brands come with two 12 x12 sheets for this price, so getting three feet means multiple projects can be completed since the smart HTV allows me to have less waste. My first time using a smart vinyl and so far I love it! No messing with mats, just feed it right into your machine. So far I've found it results in less waste as I can cut first and then trim the length afterward to the exact amount used- which is nice because I hate wasting vinyl. Cuts great at the predefined setting and is easy to weed. I'd definitely buy more of this in additional colors. Great iron on vinyl. I love getting new items for my cricut. A family member is graduating this year and we're making tshirts to 'embarrass' her with at her party. This should work for that, plus some tshirts for a family trip we're doing later this summer. I just got the black to work on whatever color tshirt everyone wants. Authentic cricut brand quality. Ships in a hard cardboard box and no damage during shipping. Note this is 13” wide so if you’re like me and have a 12” paper trimmer, this isn’t going to fit! I made it work though.

This vinyl is high-quality and easy to weed. I have not tried the matless function, as I always use a mat with my cutting machine, so I can't comment on that part. The color is a nice, deep matte black.
