  • Sweet!
Format: Kindle
I've never read this author before but I am seriously digging this first book of the Cricket series. First let me say that this was a thick read, almost 400 pages! As I think about it more, it's fascinating that the book is so hefty but really only spans about two and a half weeks in timeframe. Even though we don't get very far in the story from a timeframe perspective, the story never felt like it was dragging to me. Willow Hadley seems to have quite the knack for character and world building. It was downright engrossing even reading just the minute interactions with the characters. Although there is a core group of characters we are following, Cricket (fmc), and her likely guys Theo, Cas, and Hollis, we get introduced to a ton of side characters and it really starts to bring the small town to life in the readers mind. Regarding our main cast of characters, I am really enjoying them. Cricket is such a genuine and sweet girl with a solid backbone. I've seen other reviewers complain about her being a Mary Sue but I'm not getting that vibe. Sure, she's pretty and has unique gifts but so do other characters in this story. Mostly I see Cricket as a sweet girl with a gift for magic who, although lonely, stays true to who she is, even if that's not always accepted by others. I'm also seriously loving the guys. I appreciate that the author gives them each a "unique voice" and different personalities so they never blend into the same guy. These guys are seriously sweet with a touch of growl. The care they take with Cricket and the way none of the characters try to "play it cool" but instead embrace their connection with each other...Gahhh! Swoon. I am also loving that this is a slow burn which is my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I love the smexy times too but I like to see the characters build up to that. Makes it so much more intense. Beyond just Cricket and her guys and the mystery surrounding their unusual relationship, there is more plot growing here with other side characters and their conflicts being true to themselves, plus the added mystery around Crickets growing magic. All in all this was a great first book. I gobbled it up in just over a day and am excited to move on to book two! ... show more

  • Sugary Sweet RH Series
Format: Kindle
Synopsis: Shortly after moving in with her aunt to finish learning all things witchy, Cricket meets Theo, a member of the local werewolf pack. They connect instantly and basically become inseparable. When Cricket meets his two best friends, Theo and Cas, she feels the same insta-bond with them that she does with Theo. As her birthday approaches, the four of them must figure out their relationships. Tropes: friends to lovers, slow burn, fated mates, reverse harem, magic, incomplete series, sugary sweet, shifters, miscommunication Review: This series is so fun to read because literally gives you a sweet tooth! There's no bullying in the harem and there are some super fun magic elements. The characters have issues that are relatable and there are chapters in POVs from all the main characters AND several of the side characters (LOVE). I absolutely adore this series and seeing how all of the characters develop (especially my by Cas). Favorite part: Stella the cat's reactions to literally everybody Overall recommendation: If you like reverse harem books but can't get into the darker ones, this would be a great place to start! It is wonderful and each book has closure (no major cliffy in any book, thank goodness) so you will not feel as though you can't breathe while waiting for the next book to be released. This is overall just a super fun RH read! Personal rating: 13/10 ... show more

  • I ADORE this book
Format: Kindle
First of all, Cricket is one of the best written modern witches I've ever read. Reading this book for the first time actually felt like it replenished my aura and I've never felt more connected to a witch character! All of the characters in this book are just as well developed, and it doesn't read at all like a stereotype of supernatural books I've read in the past. Everything is original and interesting. I couldn't put it down! It's definitely a slow burn, but nothing feels like it's dragging on and no characters are annoyingly obtuse. The entire first book takes place over a week, and I can't wait to read what comes next! Cricket has been one of my comfort books ever since I discovered the unedited version almost a year ago, and this published version is even better with slight tweaks and new scenes. Willow is incredibly dedicated to her fanbase and if you liked Cricket you should definitely read her other book, Smile Like You Mean It! **I was given an advanced reader's copy of Cricket with the request that I give an honest and unbiased review. This book is incredible and that's the truth** ... show more

  • Warm Fuzzies
Format: Kindle
This is only the second book that I purchased immediately after reading it on Kindle Unlimited. I'm going to be reading this SO many times, I needed to own my own copy. How wonderfully refreshing to read a story in this genre that is so incredibly sweet...I don't know how Willow Hadley managed to make a reverse harem novel filled with foul- mouthed, over-sexed, supernatural teens sweet, but she totally did! I adore ever single character, and I really appreciate the fact that the story itself is not dependent upon the usual he-said, she-said miscommunication, secrets, misunderstandings, high school drama, and other overused tropes. While those are not completely absent, this story is mainly character driven by some serious kick-a$$ characters! (Should probably mention that there is a lot of swearing in this book. I thought it was adorable, but if profanity bothers you, you have been warned...) Can't wait for the next books in the series! It truly is the most fun I've had reading in a long time. The perfect book to open 2021!!! ... show more

  • Good and bad
Format: Kindle
I dont like that 3 out of the four main characters were obsessed with casual sex before meeting each other. Cass's relationship with Sara made him sound like a total douche. It reads like a teen romance but it isn't something I would want my daughter reading when she grows up. Not a lot of substance, mostly just them talking about how hot he or she is. I skimmed through some spots because I was bored. A lot of swearing. Personally I prefer when RH is normal in the supernatural society rather than an aberration. I do like that the guys are accepting of each other and jealous is not a plot filler. I like that they are exclusive to each other. I like that they aren't hiding their relationships or feelings. I will read the next one, but hope for more substance and less omg look at his abs. ... show more

  • Basically a quirky witch and her 3 cinnamon roll werewolves.
Format: Kindle
Cricket moves to Colorado for her Senior Year of High School. She meets three adorable werewolves and they hit it off pretty instantly. They form a really strong friendship that could possibly mean more. Honestly, the relationship is the plot to the story, other than that not a lot of conflict and just all around adorable. I love Theo. Hollis and Cas are absolutely the best as well. I want to be besties with Cricket too! All around adorable. I wish theirs was more to the story. Like what is the big conflict? But honestly I really enjoyed the characters and that cover is gorgeous! All around a feel good read! ... show more

  • Sweetness!
Format: Kindle
🔥 Sweet Paranormal RH 🔥 Fated Mates 🔥 Friends to Lovers 🔥 Witchy FMC and Wolf Shifter MMC’s Cricket is a slow burn, reverse harem with loads of sweetness. Cricket moves in with her witchy Aunt to learn the trade and her Aunt introduces her to Theo who is a member of the local wolf pack. This first book is mostly about Cricket learning her witchy trade, working the book store, starting her final year of high school and getting to know Theo and his 2 pack mates. Cricket starts to have feelings for all 3 guys but until she turns 18, they won’t know who is her fated mate. It feels like Cricket is going to be fated to all 3 and that may cause problems within the families. I loved the relationship between Cricket and her twin brothers. Her cat was also adorable. My Personal Ratings: 5 Stars: Loved it! Couldn’t put it down or obsessed about it while needing to get to the end of it. Had to share some bits with my hubby!! Usually read in less than 2 days cause a girl has got to sleep sometime. Will be reading everything this author has to offer and most likely reread the series as next books in the series are released. 4 Stars: Really Good. Whether the story drew me in or a specific character, will definitely continue the series and look into more books by this author. 3 Stars: Enjoyed something about the book, whether it be the storyline or a character but also may have not liked something. Sometimes the book is great but needs some TLC from an editor. May or may not continue the series. ... show more

  • Loved this book.
Format: Kindle
I loved this book on Wattpad and loved it even more as the polished and published version. The characters call to my soul and I love that it's not your typical paranormal romance troupe. They have real problems and jealousy and feelings and they don't just sweep it under the rug. Even when the guys do something to upset Cricket and she ends up forgiving them, she tells them how they upset her and to not do it again. She stands up for herself without being overbearing or cruel while also letting them know that it's unacceptable to be that way with her. Cricket has been one of my all time favorite female characters of all time since the first time I read her story. I can't wait for the rest of the story to be released and to see where this series goes in the future. Willow has been an inspiration to many authors on Wattpad and we are all so happy and proud of her and that she's finally putting one of our favorite stories out there for everyone to see. ... show more
