This Crescent general purpose mechanic's tool set contains a carefully selected assortment of professional tools for industrial jobs. These are excellent tools. The Crescent quality on these are better than before. I have had a set in my truck for the last 20 years that the case broke and got water in it that tore up the tools. The case is more robust on this one. Having the handle as a solid part of the case is so much better. My old case the handle broke after a couple of years. The case is pinned shut in the box. Pull really hard and the pins come out so the lock can be opened. I used a pair of side cutters to lever the pin out. ... show more

I’ve owned a few of these in the past. It seems as though the case is getting poor in quality. The case doesn’t hold the sockets like it should. The case has cracked in several spots after just a few uses. I sent one back some years ago because of this. It seems to be the new norm for them. I had an older set from Costco that I used alot over the last 20 years. It was $49 at the time. The only reason I had to replace it was because it got stolen. This set seems fairly close to the same quality as the old one, but I bent one of the wrenches the first time I used it. The ratchets seem like they should last. The sockets are 6 point, so there should be no problems with them. The case very portable and laid out well, but its not very durable. It has slid around in the back if my truck for a couple of months which cracked the handle. The smaller bit sets don't stay in place well. It fell out of my truck and got jarred open slightly. When I opened it a bunch of the tools fell out of the slots. My old box didn't hold up too well either. I think that this is definitely geared more towards being a household tool set or a secondary set to keep in the vehicle. I think it is slightly overpriced, thus I bought a returned set for $107. Pros: Many tools, including the most common sizes of wrenches and sockets. Versatility of both SAE and metric tools. Many different bits. In addition to ratchets, sockets and wrenches, it comes with pliers, a bit driver, screw drivers and an adjustable wrench. Very portable design. High quality as expected by Crescent tools. I did have a problem with unlocking the sliders. There was a plastic pin preventing the slider from moving and I could not remove it even with pliers. So, I used a small drill bit to drill through it and then the removal was easy. The slider works well both unlocking and locking. Before I drilled it out, I sent an email a Crescent group located in Apex, NC asking for help on removing the plastic pin. I never received an answered and decided to drill it out. Oh! I have purchased this kit for myself as well as my sons in the past. This kit is almost identical, but they took out a few tools and substituted them for cheap Chinese crap. The original came with channel locks which were decent quality. This kit is missing channel locks and instead give a pair of diagonal cutters that are really cheap looking and feeling. They also used to include 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2" drive ratchets and sockets. They have gotten rid of the 1/2", but they have more sockets in 3/8". I'm actually okay with that since I don't use the 1/2" drives as much. I can't tell if the case is cheaper or not because it feels the same. The problem is on the inside with the new cheap needle nose and diagonal cutters falling out everytime I open the case. Seller: can you please bring back the quality of the former kit. It really is one of the best kits available that comes in this form factor. There are other kits out there that have 4 drawer instead of the fold open portfolio style that this kit has, and I prefer this design for easier storage in the car, truck, as well as one that I store under a dresser because of its lower profile. I'll try and get some pictures of the kits side by side for those who are unfamiliar. Overall value is still good and although I'm knocking off 2 stars for "Cheapflation", I still like the kit and the price. I would definitely give 40 bucks more for better hand tools though and I hope they reconsider the cheapo tool substitution. ... show more

Product was all shaken up. Was loose in a box 4 times it's size with no bubbles. Bolts and bits were everywhere when I opened the kit. I'm paying for prime so I want prime delivery.
