I bought this for my wife who has a tool chest that is a disaster. I'm thinking that if she uses a tool from this kit, she will be prompted to put it back in its place. If not, then I give up. These tools are very good quality and the selections are the ones most often used for various tasks.

I bought this tool box in 2017, since then I have done housework, tech assembly and restored two cars, and I haven't lost anything yet, including the 10mm (truly incredible). Granted, the metal on the channel locks has a little surface rust and the handles are worn. As far as a kit to take everywhere, that's thin, durable and is a start of a tool collection? I cannot rate it highly enough. in fact, I bought my second one yesterday for my little brother so he can start gathering tools. In a comparison, I have a friends with both the DeWalt kit and a Stanley kit, and while the DeWalt has more sockets and the Stanley tools are anodized, this kit wins on shear variety of tools for me. You can take it wherever you want and you can solve most jobs with the tools you have on hand. For me, the fact that every socket and tool has a place, makes it so handy to know where everything is, making it leagues better than grandad's box of misc things. Granted. You should always supplement what you don't have. It is weird that anyone would describe a review for a tool collection as rave, but given I've had this kit this long, I've done so much with it and it's never let me down? I have purchased this kit for myself as well as my sons in the past. This kit is almost identical, but they took out a few tools and substituted them for cheap Chinese crap. The original came with channel locks which were decent quality. This kit is missing channel locks and instead give a pair of diagonal cutters that are really cheap looking and feeling. They also used to include 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2" drive ratchets and sockets. They have gotten rid of the 1/2", but they have more sockets in 3/8". I'm actually okay with that since I don't use the 1/2" drives as much. I can't tell if the case is cheaper or not because it feels the same. The problem is on the inside with the new cheap needle nose and diagonal cutters falling out everytime I open the case. Seller: can you please bring back the quality of the former kit. It really is one of the best kits available that comes in this form factor. There are other kits out there that have 4 drawer instead of the fold open portfolio style that this kit has, and I prefer this design for easier storage in the car, truck, as well as one that I store under a dresser because of its lower profile. I'll try and get some pictures of the kits side by side for those who are unfamiliar. Overall value is still good and although I'm knocking off 2 stars for "Cheapflation", I still like the kit and the price. I would definitely give 40 bucks more for better hand tools though and I hope they reconsider the cheapo tool substitution. ... show more

If you went to the big box store and started buying the hand tools you think you might need for the house or car, you will spend twice as much for those tools and a tool box as you just would buying this set. And you will have twice as many tools in this set. These are all top quality Crescent tools and they will last you a lifetime. The set is compact enough to take with you to the job site and have any tool you might need right there at arms length. I actually have two sets, one for the car and one for the house. This is a must have tool set for any "do it your selfer!" Save the grief and get one or two. You will not go wrong on this investment in good tools. ... show more

Except for all the tools being a jumbled, mixed up mess when I opened case - and after spending extra time resetting the tools and using tape to hold the tools in place - these are almost mid level tools for around the house in a case.
