My 7yo daughter can make hats and scarves for the whole family with this! She made a purse like on the box, and is even thinking of selling her creations lemonade-stand-style. She is SO PROUD of herself and I'm proud of her. After a few introductory lessons from me (this was new to me too but the instructions were pretty good) she could do it herself. All you need is to buy extra yarn. The diameter of the loom is perfect for a childrens hat, and with stretchy yarn it would fit an adult. I love that it comes with the small loom too, to show her that her new skill is versatile - she understands the concept instead of just how to use one particular object. First time knitter here and I finished this for my daughter in a night. Super cute and fun. Only complaint is that the stickers that go on the face kept falling off so I had to super glue them. Love that the looms are reuseable... just buy more yarn and you can make all sorts of stuffies. Ps I bought this for my kids but they had no interest in learning so I played with it and had a ton of fun... and I’m 35 :-) ... show more

This is a nice little kit for beginning knitters and children. However, learning to use it is a bit difficult and it takes some practice. The instructions are not clear (at least not to me) as they are pictures and not detailed. I needed to work with it for quite some time before I could show the child I bought it for how to use it. Even then, the skills of a 5 year old may not be good enough or this kit. In all fairness the package does say for 7 or older. The kit comes complete but the needle is in a small little package that could be overlooked when the kit is unpacked unless a person is looking for it specifically. Also, the small needs and the hook could be an injury risk for smaller children. If you have younger children in the house adult supervision of the parts is important. ... show more

I bought two sets of the tool kit, one for my daughter and the other for her friend as a gift. We opened one package and found two knobs missing from the smaller knit loom. My daughter really enjoys the larger knit loom and is happily knitting with it. Loved the kit and the concept and the “Hat Not Hate” campaign. But my hat turned out too small or doesn’t have that much stretch. The Craft Yarn Council states that tweens have between a 20-22 inch head circumference and an adult women’s measures between a 21-23 inch circumference. I would say this is smaller than the 22 inches, since that is what I measure and it’s too small for me. I will try to make the next one bigger, since you gave me enough yarn for two hats in the kit. Great! This is a wonderful way to support the anti bullying movement! It makes a hat about the size of a 7yr old not an adult. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that the yarn is absolutely gorgeous but was made specifically for the kit so it's not available to purchase separately. I've been loom knitting for years & I love this idea! Has everything you need to get started! Makes 2 hats & includes 2 faux leather tags! Love it! Great for kids too! ... show more

7 year old son loves this. He is a creative and crafty kid, and was thrilled to knit his first hat. Gave him a real sense of accomplishment and helped him stay busy. This loom makes knitting much less frustrating than trying with two needles, and allowed him to be almost completely self sufficient (I helped with the beginning stitches and removing the project and attaching tassels).
