Exactly as described; worked well with Sharpie markers (for my kids to decorate). Note that there is no cork backing - we used spray glue to attach felt squares. Editing to add that the Sharpie coloring wore off within about two weeks. You probably need some sort of sealant to retain it long-term.

Great quality. I have received several sets and none have ever been broken or damaged. The only complaint I have is on the last order I received it had numbers on the side of one edge. I make coasters out of these and I had to work a little extra hard to try and cover the numbers.
