Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The Ender 3 S1 3D printer is a notable improvement over previous models in terms of accuracy, features, and interface simplicity. However, the printer often arrives with loose and poorly fitting parts, requiring significant user intervention to get it operational. In spite of a steep learning curve and some initial assembling and operational challenges, users find their investment's worth in producing high-quality prints once issues are sorted out. The printer's performance makes it a great choice for those who are prepared to handle some initial tinkering.

Pros

  • 🎯 Precise printing capability
  • 💡 High-quality features include auto leveling and a simple interface
  • 📈 Big improvement over previous models
  • ✨ Removable hot plate, speed, touch screen, and direct filament drive are valuable features

Cons

  • ⚙️ Assembly can be challenging due to low-resolution instructions and loose parts
  • 🛠 May require some adjustments and handiwork after setup
  • 💨 Hotend fan noise can be annoying, often requiring replacement
  • ⛔ Some customers reported power issues and had to switch power supply voltage

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a 3D printer that can deliver high-quality results, and you don't mind some initial setup struggles and a bit of tinkering, then the Ender 3 S1 is a good choice for you. Its enhancements over previous models make it worth considering for users with basic 3D printing experience looking to upgrade.

  • Warped Bed/Low Memory Chips
Color: Ender 3 S1
EDIT 7/28/23: I'm editing my review as I've gotten a second printer. It's been about a week, so I figured I'd give an update. This one came in with a few QC issues; screws on the bed that hold the y-axis rail to the bottom of the printer weren't screwed in all the way/one screw won't sit flush. The wheels on the bed that sit on the y-axis rail were loose and allowed the bed to flop, the screws holding the extruder in place were loose. The screws holding in the heatblock were WAY loose. For what is a printer retailing at 400 dollars, this is seriously a problem. Granted, after fixing all of this, the printer is functioning MUCH better than my last one; i get decent first layers, and the bed leveling seems to work reliably, however, I still can't help but feel that you aren't getting the quality you'd expect for how much money you drop. If you can get it on sale like I did, for about 200-250, this is a okay purchase, just be warned that you're gonna have a lot of handiwork to do when it comes in and if you're a beginner, that's gonna amount to probably a week or so of fiddling around, trying to figure out if your bad print is either a skill issue or a device issue. I will give props to Creality as they did reach out via Amazon (I never heard back from anyone from their main website contact page, so customer service could still use some work) and once they heard I was having issues with the bed, offered to replace it at cost. Unfortunately, by the time they had reached out, I had already packaged up my device and was getting ready to send it back and did not want to risk the refund period expiring. Overall, I've raised my score from 2 stars to 4. Original Review: I bought this Ender 3 S1 on the 3rd of July, and I have been having nothing but issues trying to get this damn thing level. I watched countless videos, tried to get assistance online (lol, good luck), and even contacted support from Creality (still haven't heard back from them). It's almost like the bed is concaved in the middle, and the ABL system it comes with does not do enough to compensate (I'm not even sure it works if we're being honest). I've been unable to get a proper first layer during this entire two weeks. I even attempted to use a community firmware (mirscoc's professional firmware) as a troubleshooting method as it allows for UBL and mesh editing, still ran into issues with my nozzle not touching the bed in the middle. At this point, i'm convinced the bed came warped far more than it normally would and is not capable of producing a proper first layer. ... show more

  • Awesome Printer!
Color: Ender 3 S1 Pro
This printer is awesome! This is my first 3D printer so learning all of the terms and techniques took some effort. The assembly instructions lacked some detail and the pictures were low resolution. As a result, it was not so easy to assembly even for someone like me who converted a Bridgeport milling machine to CNC. It wasn't hard to assemble either, so be patient and watch a Youtube video before starting the assembly to get yourself familiar with the design. I've printed 7 items so far and couldn't be happier. It worked perfect on the first print. Spend some time getting the bed as level as possible and this will pay dividends on your first print. I'm using HATCHBOX PLA PRO+ 3D Printer Filament due to a recommendation from a Youtuber. You will need to learn Fusion 360 or similar CAD program if you intend to design your own detailed parts. The lessons are fast paced so take notes as you go. ... show more

  • Awesome printer with a few annoying quirks
Color: Ender 3 S1
When it works its great. Its very precise and tight, no wobbles, features are great, especially auto leveling, interface is simple, in a word, in every aspect big improvement over my original Ender 3. Now problems and solutions: 1. Fan shroud hitting print - I had to loosen couple of screws and reposition it and bend it up 2. BL Touch dragging over print. Disassembling and reassembling extruder paying attention to things being level and square helped, replacing nozzle with taller old Ender 3 spare did it for good. 3. Sudden power downs mid print. Well, power supply was shipped set to 220V. Nobody told me to flip a switch to 110... Amazing it worked at all. First 2 were pretty obvious but power losses had me at loss for a moment, and I was really close to start return process. I wonder how many units were returned as defective. ... show more

  • Our 5th 3D printer. Son loves it.
Color: Ender 3 S1 Pro
Re: Ender 3 S1 Pro My son and I have experimented with several printers. In the past, we had the Ender 3 Pro, but for the past 2 years we've been using an FLSUN QQ-S Pro. He asked for a new printer for Christmas and I surprised him with this new Ender 3 model. I can tell you he was very excited to get it and has been printing with it non-stop. We both agree that it prints much better than the Ender 3 Pro and FLSUN and he recently added a foam cage around it to print ABS. The only complaint we have is the loud hotend fan. It's obnoxiously loud. Not sure what Creality was thinking releasing this thing with this crappy fan. We're already looking into replacing it (as many others have commented online). Other than that, I would recommend this printer for those who have basic experience with 3D printing and are looking for something better. The removable hot plate, speed, touch screen, and direct filament drive are nice upgrades. ... show more
