  • Great pedals, especially in the small size!
Style: Stamp 1 Color: Black Size: Small
I bought these pedals, along with a carbon fiber seatpost and carbon fiber handlebars, to reduce the weight of my 9 year old's Mountain Bike; she regularly rides 15-20 mile rides in the hills, and the less weight she needs to drag up the hill, the better. Most kids' Mountain Bikes are ridiculously heavy compared to their body weight (30 lb bikes for 50lb children) so these pedals, as part of a few upgrades I did, helped get her new bike down to 22lbs! ... show more

  • Good composite pedal for very competitive price
Style: Stamp 1 Color: Blue Size: Small
You can find them often on sale for $30-35, and for that price they are a very good composite pedal. They look good and the color (we have the blue ones) is vibrant, my only negative being the slotted spindle cap (for a flat screwdriver), which looks cheap and a bit outdated. An hex cap would have been better. In terms of grip, they are pretty good (when paired to a proper MTB shoe, like FiveTen) but not as good as the RaceFace Chester. The Stamp has 9 pins per side, but 4 of them are strangely located near the spindle and don't stick out too much, so they don't bite much into the shoe. The Chester instead has 8 pins but they are all positioned away from the spindle and they stick out more, offering more grip. At the end, I'd say: if you really want your feet to be locked on the pedals, the Chester are a better choice. If instead you want a bit more forgiving platform, the Stamp are a good option (and are also cheaper). ... show more

  • Excellent upgrade for your bike
Style: Stamp 1 Color: Red Size: Large
I’ve been looking for a reasonably priced set of pedals to upgrade my bike for a while. This offering from Crank Brothers was exactly what I needed. The metal spikes keep my feet secure and in place and they provide a nice splash of color to my ride. Very pleased with my purchase and would happily recommend them. ... show more

  • OMG.....These pedals,
Style: Stamp 1 Color: Black Size: Large
Have changed the way i ride. Almost no slippage while on trails and technical stuff. Jumps fell great on landing on these large pedals. If you wear a shoe larger than 10 buy these and don't worry about pedals again.

  • Large, light, and affordable...but average grip
Style: Stamp 1 Color: Red Size: Large
First off the things I like about these pedals -The large size is really quite large, great for bigger feet. Crank Bros says for US mens 10-15 -Easy to install with an 8mm hex -Less than 400 grams for the pair is very light for such a large pedal -Under $40 is a nice price -Easy to adjust foot position while riding Things I don't like -The middle of the pedal is significantly raised compared to the ends and you can feel this under foot -The axle length from crank arm to pedal body is way too short. This makes the inside pins almost useless -So due to the raised middle and the pedal body to close to the crank arms, the inside and middle pins are rendered less effective (if even effective at all). -Traction overall due to the design is average at best So I would say if you ride casual to moderate trails and don't do any significant jumping then these pedals would be just fine. The large platform provides lots of room for big feet. But once you start hitting more advanced trails that include large obstacles, drops, or jumps then the traction issues due to some questionable design may be an issue...YMMV In my opinion there are better pedals in the same price range or less that provide more grip even with a smaller platform. ... show more

  • Ultimate Grip
Style: Stamp 7 Color: Black Size: Large
These pedals are outstanding. These pedals are built super strong, but still super light to put on a short travel bike. And the grip is amazing. Unlike other flat pedals that I have tried, it feels like your foot is standing on flat ground. On other pedals, my food would dangle off the side of the pedals giving me a weird feeling. ... show more

  • Possibly Overkill for Hybrid Bikes
Style: Stamp 1 Color: Black Size: Large
I wanted to upgrade my stock Wellgo pedals (first pic) with something larger for my big feet. After reviewing every large platform pedal on the market I ordered these "Stamp 1" composites in size L. The other contender was the OneUp Composite but several reviewers stated that riders could feel the spindle bulge thru their shoe so I opted for the Crank Bros. one. Here are my Pros and Cons- Pros: 1) Decent size foot bed but the actual dimensions are 110 x 110. If you used large calipers they probably measure 115mm due to the offset design but the foot bed is 110mm. 2) The semi-raised (convex) spindle has not been an issue for me and I ride with the ball of my foot on the spindle, not like real mountain bike riders over the arch. 3) The pedals spin freely, or close to it, right out of the box. Not tight at all, which is generally a sign of quality. I know very little about the entire spindle assembly but the exploded view looks impressive. Crank Bros. even sells a Refresh Kit for those who log many miles. 4) Since the traction pins are set at their highest setting, grip was very good while seated and like Super-Glue when out of the saddle. 5) There are 9 traction pins on each side. The asymmetrical layout places 3 at the front, 2 at the back, and 4 near the spindle. At first I thought this would be an issue since I'd always be looking down to get the right side of the pedal up. But it always has 3 pins forward no matter which side of the pedal you're on. 6) It feels very solid for a composite pedal. I have not experienced any bend, even toward the front or back, away from the spindle. 7) One other thing worth mentioning, and is not a pro or con, is that one pedal (left) says Stamp_1 on it and the other pedal (right) has the Crank Bros. logo on it. 8) Without being an expert, but having owned numerous bikes and pedals, the weight of these pedals seems good to me. Neither featherweight nor heavy. Just about right for the size I would say. Cons: 1) I did not need an instruction manual and none comes with the pedals. They tell you to go to the Crank Bros. website for details. The website suggests a torque setting for tightening but their photo shows a non-torque hex wrench. There is no wrench flat/spindle nut on the pedals so I'm not sure how easy these will be to take off later with just a hex wrench. 2) The distance between the pedal and the crank arm is minimal (see pic). This somewhat defeats the purpose of buying a larger pedal. I almost feel like my ankle bone will hit the crank arm. So I ride with 1/2" of pedal showing on the inside to compensate. 3) Since I ride a hybrid-type bike, I backed out some of the traction pins to about 67% height. However, it seems like there is no version of Loctite on the threads, so I feel like the pins may vibrate out at some point. This seems like an oversight. If anyone has experience in this area I would love to hear from you. 4) The pedals were shipped in a cheap gray plastic bag, no padding. I was fortunate to receive mine undamaged. Overall these are pretty solid pedals. If the spacing between the pedal and crank arm was a little wider, and I felt that the traction pins would stay in, I would have provided a 5 Star rating. ... show more
