Used this to cut down some dowels for a project and it worked beautifully. I clamped the box down to a table, as recommended on the packaging, and the black pegs included did help keep my wood in place so my cuts were accurate. Clamping it down seemed vital to making sure the box doesn't move and helped give leverage when the saw got stuck in the wood a couple times. I knock off one star because I definitely sawed a good amount of the plastic of the box along with the wood and it just doesn't seem like it will hold up for lots of projects. The concept is great, and it was a great price for what I needed it to do - especially compared to buying a whole miter saw! I will continue to use it until I inevitably saw it in half. The setup is simple very appreciative of that. My cuts were clean which is a plus. I do wish the legs would have come with a sticky adhesive to help hold while cutting, since I did not screw the system into the table it does shift during the whole cutting process.     • Good for the DIY-er
This definitely did its job! And for the price, it was well worth it! I used this for a home project, cutting some wall trim for my bedroom. The trim was about an inch thick and an inch and a half wide. The saw got stuck a few times and I had to jerry-rig a way to hold the wood in place. But it for the most part worked! It also wasn’t an exact cut but close enough where I could use caulk to make the finished product look clean. Would recommend for a casual DIY-er ... show more

If you do a lot of crafts, especially on a smaller scale, you need this! I was hand cutting all my wood with a hand saw and this changed my life. Easy to use, easy to store and cuts come out perfect every time.

    • Wish I had bought the metal version..
It is as described and does the job, but when you are learning and or teaching youth how to make the cuts, the edges are shaved and by the end of a project there's going to be an inaccurate cutting space. The result makes the project less precise and additional unwanted work and some frustration. For me, it was a good learning experience and teaching experience. It is something I am very likely to buy again, buy it will have to be metal. I do know that it is a very inexpensive tool and it has served well, so if you are not able to afford the metal and are experienced with hand saws, than I'm sure your going to be fine. Speaking of saw, we used one of the smaller double sided Japanese saws. I'm not sure if the included saw was unfavorable to me being left handed, but I was not able to get a rhythm to cut. We had some smaller pieces of wood and used the small teeth side of the Japanese saw. I honestly think it was the type of wood and not an issue with the provided saw. In short do get the metal version and I would highly recommend a double sided Japanese saw of you are working with smaller pieces of wood such as molding and similar types of wood. I selected one off Amazon as there are hundreds well rated double sided to choose from, would not be able to say which one is best for I'm still learning and have no experience with anything other then this cutter and the Japanese saw I purchased. ... show more

We don’t own many tools but needed to add some trim to our baseboards. This item worked well and I didn’t need to purchase an expensive saw. The cuts look great for an inexperienced person!!
