  • Great pants. I’m glad I finally tried them.
Color: Marauder Alamo Khaki Size: 32W x 34L
These pants are fantastic. The built-in key loop feeds straight into a clever front pocket that lets me keep my phone and wallet safely away from my keys. All the pockets feature that breathable mesh lining like you’d find in swim trunks, which means no buildup of dust or tiny debris. The thigh pockets are generously sized and perfect for stashing tools, coins, or whatever else—I’ve never dropped a single coin from them. 10/10, I went ahead and snagged a second pair. The elastic waistband is incredibly comfortable and flexible, the zipper and button are top-notch and durable, and overall, they feel lightweight and easy to wear. They’re not overly insulating, so I’m looking forward to rocking them through the warmer months too. I was totally hung up on the M-Tac pants for the longest time, thinking they were the gold standard for work wear, but man, am I thrilled I decided to give these CQR ones a shot instead. They edge out the M-Tacs in comfort and pocket design without sacrificing durability, and at a better price point too—definitely no regrets here, these have become my new go-to. ... show more

  • Best all around for aviation work.
Color: Breacher Black Size: 32W x 32L
I work in aviation maintenance (line and flight), and these pants are my go to. Our company issues us Dickie cargo pants, but I cannot stand them. They are heavy, bulky, and fit poorly. These CQRs are light, comfortable, durable and fit well. The water resistance is very good, even after repeated washings, and will dry quickly after working in monsoon conditions. I wear them for both line work and charter flights with my dress white flight shirts. They look professional for the VIP flights, fit perfect and can take a beating from crawling around aircraft when doing maintenance work. They are perfect for all weather (rain, heat, snow, cold). Pockets are perfect for some tools and flashlights. I cannot say enough about them. ... show more

  • Best work pants
Color: Breacher Dark Brown Size: 32W x 32L
Im an electrician and i wear these to work. Ive been wearing them for 5 months now and still have no holes in them and i snag them on nails, always crawling on my knees. These are the absolute best work pants ive ever owned. Ive been doing construction for over 10 years and out of all the name brands ive bought, these are the most durable and most comfortable work pants. Also they are very good in the heat, they fit loose and are very breathable. Also have a good bit of flex to them making it easy to fit long johns under them or more warmth if needed. ... show more

  • Solid tactical pants, but not the OCP look-alike I hoped for
I grabbed these CQR Flex Ripstop Tactical Pants hoping they’d pass as something close to my OCPs, but they definitely don’t. The pattern is similar in idea, but the shades are off, the color balance doesn’t match real multicam, and it’s not a cheap Crye alternative by any stretch. If you’re buying these expecting uniform accuracy, you’ll be disappointed. That said, as actual pants, they’re pretty solid. The flex ripstop fabric is comfortable, doesn’t feel cheap, and the water resistance actually works better than I expected. The pocket layout is practical, stitching is decent, and they move well when you’re crouching, bending, or hauling gear around. For everyday work, range days, yard work, or anything rough-and-tumble, they’re a reliable option. Overall, they’re good tactical pants—just not a true OCP-style match. If accuracy in pattern is important to you, skip them. If you just want durable, flexible, water-resistant pants for daily use, they earn their four stars. ... show more

  • Good pants.
Color: Marauder Copper Brown Size: 36W x 30L
The best pants I own. Wish the fit through the legs was a little more slim or fitted, but they are comfortable, light weight and they look good. Haven’t noticed any shrinkages so they tend to run true to size, if not rather elastic in the waist, makes carrying easier and more comfortable. Will be buying more soon. ... show more

  • Only pants I've ever been complimented on
The fabric is the perfect mix of cotton (34%) and synthetics. CQR makes other pant models with more synthetics, like polyester, and they feel and look like "old-man-pants". In fact CQR makes so many frickin' models of pants it takes me half an hour to make sure I'm ordering the specific model I want. That said, these are perfect. They are comfortable and rugged and the fit is perfect. I have a slightly funky body shape, so the good fit might be a coincidence, or just good design on CQR's part. The pockets get A+: I've never had anything fall out of them hiking or gardening. The deep pockets also have a lot of space for my extra large phone, thick wallet, keys, etc. The belt loops get A+. Many of the leading brands of hiking/adventure pants skimp on belt loops (why?!) and you end up with the pants dangling below your belt on the sides. This model of CQR pants has generous belt loops - both number of loops and width. Finally. In the last year I've gotten 3 compliments on my pants (the specific model I'm reviewing) - twice while out hiking and once just out and about. Nobody has ever complimented me on pants in my life, so that says something. Oh...and I'm not counting a 4th compliment from my wife and a 5th complement from my sister :-). Other parts of the pants are also well made - the zipper, front button, bottom hems, etc. My oldest pair is over a year old and is still holding up well. The instructions recommend washing inside out, but I don't and haven't noticed unusual wear. We have a front-loading washing machine, so maybe that's why I get away with it. There are two stains I've gotten in one pair that haven't come out (yet), but I'm OK with it: bacon grease from frying bacon (should have worn an apron), and pine tree sap from carrying the Christmas tree out of the house. Both stains were hard to see after a couple of washings, but if you know they're there you can see them. Everyone needs a few pair of pants you do grimy things in, so I use these for grimy chores as well as hiking, work, travel, etc. Final verdict: On a scale of 1 to 10 I give them a 10. ... show more
