  • You won’t find a better (new) axe for the money.
Size: With sheath
Great axe. Better overall quality than some of my Swedish axes, which are over double the price. I’m really impressed with the handle. So many manufacturers (including Swedish) hang their heads to massive, cumbersome handles. Council ships with a properly thinned handle. So it can do it’s job and absorb impact. My axe measured 27.5” from end to end. ... show more

  • Absolutely no complaints.
Size: With sheath
I will write as long of a review as I can about this. But long story short, worth much more money than what you pay for it. Absolutely no complaints. I guess in reviews you are supposed to brag about yourself before reviewing the item. So here that goes, qualification for using this axe. I've grown up my entire life using an axe. The next closest town to me has 200 people in it. Our main source of heat is oak. I'm 290lbs of muscle and fat. What you would expect a fat woodsman to look like. Half bear half dirt. I just about only use this axe for every day of my life. Sure if I'm splitting I use a maul. But for everything else this is by my side. I've been clearing 5 acres by hand for the last 4 years off and on. Oak and pine mixed. An absolute ton of brush that is literally impossible to walk through. This is my go to tool of choice. Light enough I can swing from literally everywhere. Any angle. I swing this thing off and on while clearing for about 10 hours a day. I love it. If you actually know how to swing an axe. You don't gotta put a ton of muscle in it. Just get it whipping just right and this will go through anything. It's light enough I can really get this thing swinging fast. I always keep my axes sharp. I never understood why you wouldnt get it as sharp as possible. Just take a second or two to sharpen it if you ever hit the dirt. Anyway, this thing keeps it's edge so well. I will give it a little touch up at lunch time. But honestly it doesn't really need it. I've had this for maybe a year and a half. I don't use it much in the fall or winter. But spring and summer I use it daily. It's really gone through the ringer. And held up just fine. I wish I could say better things about it. Ask my wife and I'm always talking about how thankful I am to have it. Best money I've ever spent. I'll try and keep listing things I like about it. The handle is the perfect width. I hate when an axe comes with a handle half the size of a tree. I like the shorter length. Much easier to carry anywhere you go. If it's a pine let's say less than 7 inches. I can literally drop it and de limb it quicker than most people with chainsaws. Oak sure I'm going to grab the saw. But any limb smaller than 3 inches. Just swing this thing and they pop off. Handle grain came great for me. Hasn't warped at all. Although I do baby it and it lives inside when not in use. So it's not like it sits out in the rain. The handle is coming lose right now. But I really do beat this thing up. and I expected it to happen sooner. No problem though. I will fit a new wedge in today. That's actually why I remembered to review it. I might have actually had it for two years. But I'm not sure. All in all, I've probably taken town about 45+ pines. Maybe 4 cedars and let's say 5 oaks ( oaks probably smaller than 4 inches though). Probably an acres worth of brush so thick you couldn't crawl through. Love it. 13 out of10 stars. The most underrated product I have ever bought on amazon. I hope I have this for the rest of my life. ... show more

  • American made
Size: With sheath
This axe (with the sheath) is almost perfectly balanced. The axe is sharp right out of the box and ready to go. I was very happy the handle came raw and I could stain/treat it how I saw fit. This axe is good enough to be a pack axe and will be. I'll be sticking with Council from now on.

This is my second of this type, and weight...packable, and super useful around the camp, as well as at home!!! Sharp, ( although I touched mine up--just me) and well balanced!!!

  • Perfect axe for all around use
Size: With sheath
Awesome axe, perfect size for light chopping, can even split small stuff with ease. Once sharpened it holds an edge well.

  • Eye is not centered. Thick on one side, thin on the other. Sending back.
Size: With sheath
The eye of the axe is "lopsided" and not centered. More meat on one side, very thin on the other.
