I LOVE this casserole dish! Over the many years I've been married, we had some "gifted" Corning Ware dishes in various sizes that I used for various dishes and cooking styles, and they were pretty okay to use. Unfortunately, I broke the largest casserole dish I had and didn't replace it right away. One day I was reading through a recipe/cooking magazine and saw a dish looking very similar to this one. It was attractive and made me decide to buy a more "grown-up looking" casserole dish to use. Over the last 1-1/2 years, and until recently, we had 9 of us living under one roof (my 99 year old Mother, one of our sons, his wife and their 2 babies, plus our daughter and son-in-law, who is finishing up his degree. Yes, it was very cozy and a little bit on the crazy side, but I digress) so I needed a bigger dish to handle the larger volume of food I was serving. This dish was my choice because it is large, it is pretty, I like white dishes, and the old Corning Ware has held up for 30+ years! The clean-up is easy, it looks beautiful on my table, and frankly, it holds large servings of everything! I really do recommend this dish and I believe you will enjoy it as well. Because I have the matching pieces to the set, when my previous Dutch oven chipped, I ordered this replacement. Fortunately, I was not disappointed in the construction. It is as well made, and as large and deep, as the one that I had beforehand. This covered casserole dish is PERFECT! I love the large size. The glass cover fits exactly the way it should. What a blessing it is to have a glass cover to allows cooking in the oven and covering in the refrigerator! This 4 quart Corningware dish is everything I hoped it would be. Compared to the few similar options available, it is priced very well. That it matching other French White dishes I have is also a bonus. All is good with the covered casserole dish. I've owned this baking dish for years and it is my absolute favorite. It looks really nice, so it easily goes from the oven straight to the table. It's also a breeze to wash. This purchase was to replace my old one. After about 20 years, it cracked near the handle and down the side. I still used it for a few more years, but figured better replace it before it cracked any more. This is one of my favorite pieces of cookware. I use it for everything from meatloaf & pot roast to baked Ziti. The lid does not fit perfect and wobbles on the new one. That is my only complaint, the lid not fitting.     • NOT 4 Quarts. ONLY 2.5 quarts. - Also, the lid does not fit!
1) This is NOT a 4 quart casserole. Though it is labeled as such on the bottom of the dish, when using a measuring cup to fill it with water, it become obvious that the dish can only hold 2 1/2 quarts of water. 2) As many others have noted in the comments, the glass lid that comes with this casserole does is too big and does not fit onto this casserole dish. This is a safety hazard as when removing this casserole from the oven the lid invariably slips off and can burn you hand, or easily slip off and shatter on the ground, unless you can catch it before it falls off. I am disgusted at CorningWare for selling this shoddy product. You can buy it from their direct warehouse page for $35+tax&shipping, but the comments on the page make it clear that it is the same shoddy product offered here with a lid that does not match the dish. The most important part is the FALSE ADVERTISING. It is NOT a 4 quart dish. It is only 2.5 quarts. ... show more
