These South Bend Components cordless roller shades for windows (white, 29in x 72in) are nice, effective, light-blocking cordless shades. While these were advertised as light-filtering, i cannot see any light coming through them at all. I got these roller shades for the door entering into the kitchen from the entrance room/mudd room. The door already had a gauzy kitchen-style curtain hanging over the window which is the upper half of the door. And the gauzy curtains were backed up by light-filtering one inch plastic blinds to add privacy when desired since the gauzy curtains were way too see-through. But the plastic blinds were old, stained and raggedy and i had thought to replace them with the same. But these roller shades do an even better job of adding privacy to the doorway. The roller shades were fairly easy to install. And households with small children would appreciate the lack of cords due to the danger dangling cords can present to small children. And these roller shades are made of a fabric that looks easy to clean when wiped with a damp cloth. And the headrail - made of an aluminum alloy - is handsome and durable (unlike lower-cost PVC plastic ones.) But my favorite part is probably the clear plastic clip that is available for attaching to the bottom of the roller-blind. Why? Well it seems like anything that is constantly touched picks up grease-and-grime from the hands. And i just cannot stop to run and wash my hands every time i want to raise or lower the roller blinds. So this clear plastic “bottom row clip” obviates that issue. Clever ! One thing i noticed is that there are two expanded foam wedges/bumpers at the top of the blinds that are marked “Pull shade down before removing this to avoid shade rolling upward.” Once i understood the purpose of those two wedges i became concerned that maybe these wedges should always be present because once they were removed, then what would prevent the shade from rolling up too high? (Cartoon-like images raced through my brain of roller shades flapping wildly as they rolled upwards uncontrollably.) This issue bothered me for a while but i more-or-less had to accept that this rolling up too high was simply a potential danger of this design of roller shade that was most likely to happen during shipping and not really a concern after installation. These roller shades are so much more elegant than the old-and-raggedy translucent one-inch plastic blinds that they replaced. I am very happy with these new roller shades.

The product description states this is a "light filtering" shade, but it's actually a light blocking shade. The overall quality is good, and the materials of the shade fabric and the other components seem good. It's nice there is a built-in valence on the top, to cover the roller portion of the shade. Nice touch. Mounting brackets are easy to snap on and are also good quality. Note: the mounting hardware and screws were in a little brown box at the bottom of the long box, and were difficult to find, make sure to check the ends of the long box to find the smaller box containing the mounting hardware. To raise and lower the shade, just lift the bar at the bottom, no chain needed. Easy peasy. This is also safer for children, who might accidentally wrap a chain around their neck. I ordered a 35 inch wide shade and it is exactly 35 inches wide, so that's great.

I wasn't expecting much more than another shade that has been hanging on windows since the dawning of man. Once I opened this product, I was completely surprised and incredibly happy. This is no ordinary shade. All the finishes, craftsmanship, material and moving mechanisms are top quality. The shade has a rich, two layered process that has a bespoke gray front texture and a white backing so it will match all the other window treatments in my home (if someone was looking at all my windows from the outside). The shade is mounted in an elegant, perfectly made pvc box. The moving shade is changed up or down by a simple tug or by gently pushing it back up into the box. It works perfectly and is very easy to do. I have 23 other windows in my house that I plan on adding one of these shades. It looks good, and I feel great to put this home beautification item in such a short time as it was super easy to install. Amazing stuff!

I am so impressed with this shade. The box it sits in gives a beautiful finish to the window. The shade itself is a nice fabric that feels good to the touch and looks great, high end. Messes wipe right off of it, so easy to maintain. A quick look at the video on the purchase page and it is so simple to install. I will definitely be using these in many more of my windows. Very nice product, excellent quality and sturdy. Highly recommend this. Measure twice! This cannot be cut like cheap shades. I did an interior mount from the top but it looks like you can also mount outside on the back making it even more versatile. Highly recommend this shade. Also love that there is no cord or stick. Just use the little handhold on the bottom of the shade to push it up and down and it moves very easily.

What a well-balanced design in manufacturing. That's one of the easiest shades ever to open and close. Just the lightest touch in either side makes it move. That cats have learned to lift it on their own in the morning. SO cute! The install hardware was perfect. 2 screws straight up and the shade clicked right into place with ease.

Unfortunately for me this was just a hair too wide for my window. Just a hair. I'm going to see if I can sand down the sides in order to get it to fit. It's a lovely shade and does a fantastic job at blacking out the sun. It comes with all the required hardware. I'm pleased with it and will be even more pleased when I can actually get it installed!
