This is being sold as a buffer/polisher? There are only 3 distinct speeds 5,000, ( 7,500 not sure) and 10,000 rpm . No way can you buff, or polish at these speeds. You will burn your paint even with the 5000 rpm. This is a set speed not variable speed, that is 0-5,000. It’s fast, faster, and fastest. This may work as a sander? Also, it randomly goes to 10,000 rpm when you start it ? Be careful?

No speed control on the trigger, it spins too fast on its slowest setting for buffing and the batter speed control resets almost as soon as you release the trigger. If it had a 2 step trigger and a slower minimum speed I'd give it 5 stars.

It works but the batteries run down faster then they can recharge

The RPM and power is very respectable. The price of the power is having to ratate batteries. For buffing and polishing, it works very well, but have 3 - 4 batteries ready to go and fully charged. Be prepared to pause in your project as batteries have to recharge.

I have a number of batteries that are compatible with this. I've used the polisher with the sponge heads and some 3m rubbing compound to remove hard water stains from the glass in my shower. It works great but is super messy. If you're using a liquid-y type rubbing compound make sure you tape up/have guards or something up to prevent splattering the stuff everywhere. Luckily it was in my shower so easy to cleanup and the ceiling in the bathroom had semigloss paint so I could wipe that up.

Defective. Drains 20v 3 hour Dewalt battery in minutes. Makes battery so hot it will not recharge

Every time it was turned off, it had to be cycled through the correct speed. It ran too fast for my application. I returned it.
