  • Not a replacement cooler - it must be installed *BEFORE* motherboard is put into the case
Color: Red Style: Hyper 212 LED
A mounting bracket for this must be attached to the *back* of the motherboard *before* the motherboard is put into the case. In other words, this is not a replacement cooler for existing machines (unless one wants to substantially dismantle that machine.) The instructions are not very clear - they seem written to cover all possible variations, so there will always be many pieces left over depending on your machine's configuration. The instructions are written in Ikea like diagrams, but with less clarity about which piece is which and how they are to be used. Fortunately I read - or rather deciphered - my way through all of the instructions before I started. It wasn't until near the end - a dozen or so pages into the instruction booklet - that it became clear that the motherboard had to be outside of the case. It may be a great cooler - but not for my existing undercooled machine. ... show more

  • 212 LED is not quite the same as the 212 EVO.
Color: Red Style: Hyper 212 LED
I bought the Hyper 212 LED because it was on sale thinking it was the same as the 212 EVO, just with added red LED lights. However, even though they are close, they are not quite the same. The LED version has a slightly different mounting bracket & as such, the fan/heatsink can only be installed facing one of 2 directions (fan faces front or back in your case). The 212 EVO can be mounted facing any direction (fan faces front, back, up, down in your case). This was not really an issue for me, but some builds I have done have needed the flexibility in mounting options that the 212 EVO provides. Nonetheless, once installed, the 212 LED worked well for my build & I would buy it again. It would be nice if the LED lights were available in other colors besides red. ... show more

  • Affordable/excellent aftermarket cooler for Ryzen 5 3600
Color: Red Style: Hyper 212 LED
Bought this when it was on sale for $21 and it appears to be an excellent and quiet cooler. The cooler is compatible with both MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and Asus ROG Strix B450-F motherboards although if you use the first DDR4 dimm slot, you'll need to install the RAM first before mounting the fan on the heatsink. Also of note, this cooler barely cleared my age-old Antec 300 mid-tower chassis in case anyone was wondering. I've ran a few CPU stress test with the cooler and with ambient room temperature of 23C, it's been able to keep the CPU at under 66C. This is with the CPU pushed to 100% load in all 12 threads in AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU at stock speed. ... show more

  • Horrible design for Intel CPUs.
Color: Non Led Style: Hyper T2
Boy, I've bought a lot of great Cooler Master products; some of my favorite all-time cases, fans, and coolers. But this CPU cooler is one of the biggest pieces of garbage I've ever laid hands on. Maybe the AMD based securing mechanism is Ok, but the Intel based mechanism has 2 little plastic feet at each corner that are supposed to go into the holes in the motherboard and then you press down so a hard plastic pin spreads them, theoretically securing the cooler. There is no room to get your hands in, even with everything removed. Maybe if you installed the CPU and cooler before installing the motherboard and the case. And the two little feet at each corner can easily spread apart when attempting to insert them in the holes. If that happens, you play "whack a mole'. Get one in, one pops out. Even if installed successfully I have no faith that this mechanism is secure enough for me to trust my build with. So into the garbage it goes. Horrible design. ... show more

  • WORST INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE
Color: Non Led Style: Hyper T2
I have never, in almost 20 years of PC tinkering, come this close to launching an entire system out a window in a fit of rage. I bought this because I previously owned a Hyper 212 and loved it but my new system uses a microATX case and this was the largest cooler I could fit in this case. The mounting pins are complete trash. One of them broke and the other still cannot fully twist into position. The stock Intel pins installed and uninstalled just fine with absolutely no problems and they look near-identical to these so why was this such a heinous experience? My idle temps only went down about 2°C which is pathetic (from averaging 38° to now about 36°). The only thing that improved were my load temperatures which went from 87-90°C (Scary) to 67°C (better but way below expectations). I bought this because the 10700 stock cooler was allowing my core temps to reach 90°C playing Borderlands 3 or using Photoshop and that concerned me. This cooler alleviates that concern but now I have a whole new worry that it might randomly pop off the motherboard because I'm not confident in the mounting pins at all. I probably will have to try and return this because it's not worth the stress. What an unimpressive, frustrating piece of trash. ... show more
