  • Reliable TIG Rods with Smooth Arc and Great Flow
Pattern Name: 20PCS Size: 1/16*16 inches
Picked these ER308L TIG rods up for stainless work mostly 304 and they’ve been exactly what I was hoping for. Arc starts smooth, puddle wets out nice, and they flow really clean without fighting you. Makes it easy to stack dimes even if you’re not trying to get fancy. I’ve run them on a few different thicknesses and they hold a consistent bead with good color when your shielding is right. No weird contamination, no popping, no junk coating issues just dependable rods. The low carbon content is a big plus too helps keep corrosion resistance where it needs to be, especially on anything that matters long term. Only thing I’d say is make sure you store them right like any stainless filler, they’ll pick up moisture if you leave them sitting out. Overall, great value for the money. I’ll be buying more when these run out. ... show more

  • Beginner friendly TIG rods that make learning feel manageable and results look better than expected
Pattern Name: 20PCS Size: 1/16*16 inches
Getting started with TIG welding can feel like trying to juggle three things at once while learning a completely new skill. There is torch control, filler rod timing, and puddle management all happening at once, and anything that simplifies even one part of that process is worth paying attention to. These stainless steel TIG rods fall into that category, especially for someone still building muscle memory and confidence. One of the first things that stood out is how easy they are to work with. The arc starts smoothly and stays stable, which is not something you take for granted when you are new to welding. A stable arc makes it easier to focus on technique instead of fighting the equipment, and that alone can make a noticeable difference in how quickly you improve. The puddle behavior is another highlight. These rods melt cleanly and flow into the joint without feeling unpredictable or difficult to control. For a novice welder, that translates into a more forgiving experience. You can focus on learning how to move consistently and build a bead without constantly second guessing what the material is doing. They are sized at 1/16 inch by 16 inches, which makes them particularly well suited for thinner materials like sheet metal, tubing, and smaller fabrication work. That matches the kind of projects many beginners start with, whether it is small repairs, practice pieces, or light fabrication. The slightly shorter length compared to some other rods also makes them easier to handle at first, which can help with control while you are still figuring things out. Another important detail is the low carbon ER308L composition. This helps maintain corrosion resistance in stainless steel welds and supports cleaner, stronger joints. Even if you are not thinking about long term durability yet, it is good to know that the material is working in your favor as you practice. What I appreciated most is that these rods perform consistently. There is no sense that you are fighting variations from one rod to the next, and that reliability matters when you are trying to learn. When your results improve, you want to know it is because your technique is improving, not because something changed with the material. The multi pack format also makes sense for beginners. Practice burns through material quickly, and having enough rods on hand means you can keep working without worrying about running out halfway through a session. That supports repetition, which is really how skills develop. All things considered, this lands at four stars for a novice welder. The performance is solid, the handling is approachable, and it provides a dependable foundation for building skills without adding unnecessary complications. ... show more

  • Decent ER308L rods but poor value
Pattern Name: 10PCS Size: 3/32*16 inches
These ER308L filler rods work perfectly fine for TIG welding on stainless steel and they weld just as good as rods I've purchased from my local welding supply store. I've got few complaints about these rods though that make them an item I wouldn't consider repurchasing in the future: 1. These rods are completely unmarked. It is industry standard/practice for filler rods to be stamped with their classification at one end of the rod. These have no markings on them of any kind which would make them difficult, if not impossible, to properly identify again if they accidentally get mixed up with other SS filler rods (ER309L, ER316L, etc). 2. These rods came packaged in a box and not a storage tube. Most filler rods come in storage tubes that can be used to store the rods long-term on your welding cart and ask make it easier to visually identify each rod material. These rods came only in a cardboard box that was already falling apart following shipping. 3. These rods are a very poor value. I can get a 1 lbs pack of 36" ER308L rods from my local store for less than this pack costs. This is only 10X 16" rods so this is not much filler rod material at all for the price they are selling for. ... show more

  • Reliable Performance for the Hobbyist, but Unlabeled and Kind of Short
Pattern Name: 10PCS Size: 3/32*16 inches
As a hobbyist welder who tackles projects from custom automotive work to fabricating small stainless steel fixtures for my workshop, I decided to try the Convivium ER308L rods for a series of repairs on a 304 stainless steel outdoor grill frame There is no "setup," but proper preparation is critical. The rods arrived tie-wrapped together, which is fine, especially since I got only 10 of them. I used my TIG welder with a pure argon shield gas, set to about 120 amps for a 1/8" base material. The rods performed admirably. The arc started easily and remained stable, with a consistent, fluid puddle. I experienced minimal spatter. The resulting welds on the grill frame were clean, shiny, and had that desirable "stacked dime" appearance with good tie-in at the toes of the weld (see photo). The color post-weld was a light straw to bronze, indicating a good gas shield and low carbon content, which is exactly what you want for corrosion resistance. The 3/32" rod diameter was perfectly matched for the thickness of my grill project. It filled the joint efficiently without needing excessive heat input, which helps prevent warping on thin material. The Convivium rods performed nearly identically in terms of arc stability, bead smoothness, and cleanliness when compared to other rods. All ten rods in my pack were straight, of uniform diameter, and had a clean, bright finish. They melt smoothly, feed easily into the puddle, and produce strong, visually appealing welds with minimal cleanup. On the repaired grill frame, which is exposed to weather, there has been no sign of rust or preferential corrosion along the weld lines. These rods are kind of short, however. Other brands that I've used are half again as long. It hard to use the rod when it gets really short, so there is more frequent rod-changing than I'd like. No Certification: While they perform like certified rods, they do not come with a Mill Test Report or AWS certification paperwork. This is fine for hobby, art, and repair work but may not meet the procedural requirements of certain professional or code-governed fabrication shops. ... show more
