  • Stopped the squeal that I was convinced was an alignment issue
I bought a used 1999 Ford Ranger with a 3.0. It had a little belt squeal and lots of belt dressing. I know from my past experience as an ex-mechanic that belt dressing is just a band aid to a bigger problem. I degreased the pulleys and put on a new belt. (not this one) The squeal was worse & very annoying. I checked every pully bearing and changed the A/C compressor bearing and the tensioner bearing. It did not help! I was convinced it was a belt alignment issue, but the tool is $120. I decided to try a good belt (this one) and it is now quiet. I will never buy a cheap belt again. This belt is worth every penny! I am so happy with this belt. ... show more

  • 07 Sequoia
Works perfect to quiet 4.7l V8 belt squeak.
Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2024 by Very effective motor- moves air just fine. But poor build quality- very loud whine at all speeds right out of the box. I was going to return- but didnt have time.

  • Good premium belt, helped quiet my screech.
I like the belt, seems to have quieted my screech, though I did also replace the idler pulley at the same time. The Continental Elite Poly-V belt was previously called the the Goodyear Gator belt. Continental bought it from Goodyear and re-branded it. Note: Amazon's vehicle fit checker did NOT correctly identify this belt for me and it told me that it did not fit my vehicle. I figured I'd bring this up because many of the poor reviews are due to incorrect sizing. I ended up going to Continental's part's finder website, partfinderelite dot com and looking it up there based on my vehicle info. I also got the same part # through the vehicle part finder on one of the big auto parts website. Although I was still a bit nervous, I figured correctly that Amazon's parts verification was wrong and bought the belt based on the Continental partfinder info. It was the correct fit and an exact size match to the ribbed belt it replaced. (I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler X, 4.0L 242 engine with AC). I'd buy it again. ... show more

  • 3 years and 8 Months Later...
I often encountered the frustrating problem of squealing belts, and the problem of course was the cheap belts sold at our local auto parts stores. Purchased this Continental Elite in April 2015, and when it was delivered, I noticed a difference in the manufacturing...the grooves, the thickness, and even the weight. It's very strong in comparison to the old belts I used to buy. I'm writing this review 3 years and 8 months after my purchase, and the belt squealed recently, but only because heavy rains came .. After the truck ran and dried out the engine, no squeals. It is Dec. 7, 2018, and after inspection of the belt, I don't see any cracks. I use my 2003 Mazda pickup truck every day and put at least 40 miles on it per day with constant stop and go traffic. This product was sold by Amazon, so free shipping, and quick delivery. The cost was $24.46 at that time. Would I buy it again? I have, 2 of them, just so I have spares when I need it. ... show more

  • BUY THIS BELT!
I have a 2003 Toyota Sequoia and have been fighting with a squeal/clicking for four months. I had the dealer replace my timing belt back in January and as part of that replacement, they also replaced the serpentine belt with an 'OEM' Dayco belt. About a month later I started getting a squealing sound from the lower left side of the engine when the RPMs got above 1500RPM which progressively got worse. After trying to isolate the noise, and considering that the belt was new, I replaced the alternator....still had noise from the left side. I then replaced the tensioner, still noise, the idler pulley, now the noise was worse. I then replaced the power steering pump. At that point the noise changed from a squeal to a metallic "click" figuring I got a bad rebuild I swapped it for another (under warranty) STILL had the noise. At this point I gave up and went back to dealer. The dealer kept it overnight and after a long "investigation" concluded that it was "probably" the alternator but possibly the power steering pump. They wanted $730 to replace the alternator at which point I told them no. At a loss I decided to try this belt since there was basically nothing left to replace....THE NOISE WENT AWAY IMMEDIATELY! I couldn't be happier and will never try a different type of belt again. Also this belt arrived as a "continental" brand not goodyear, but the belt looked the same and clearly I had no performance issues. Absolutely thrilled. ... show more

  • Best Serpentine Belt for my car.
This Continental Elite 4060882 Serpentine belt, fits perfectly in a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT, auto transmission, with V6 6cyl. "X" engine. Did a complete power steering pump replacement which included this serpentine belt, belt tensioner plus one accessory pulley, Delco power steering pressure hose, Delco return hose section, Delco remanufactured pump and new Lucas power steering fluid to complete the job. After thirty miles of test driving, Verified no forced steering and no more metal grinding noises, as my car continues to purr like a happy kitten after 181K miles. Using great products that I have purchased everything from Amazon makes all the difference in the world. Continental Elite formerly Goodyear, now manufactures these belts, hoses, and other high quality OEM related components including tires. Can't go wrong with their products! ... show more
