Description

Continental 0100173 Grand Prix 4-Season 700X23 Black Tire provides you with even greater puncture resistance thanks to the Duraskin fabric. Light-weight racing tires are especially susceptible to damage on the sidewall. Because of this, each year many cyclists are forced to abandon events, for instance in the Paris-Roubaix race. The Duraskin fabric reinforces the sidewall without significantly adding to the weight of the tire. In 2004, cyclists equipped with Duraskin tires had 80 percent fewer flats than those riding on other makes. The compound has also been modified for all-year-round use. You'll cover more kilometers on the Grand Prix 4-Season and won't have to worry about the tire compound hardening and thus the grip performance decreasing. The 23mm, 25mm and 28mm versions also make it possible to select the right tire for various road qualities and comfort requirements. The Grand Prix 4-Season tires also feature Vectran Breaker protection. Vectran is a lightweight, highly abrasion-resistant multi-fibered layer that sits under the tread, and is five times stronger than steel. Specs: Weight - 220 grams; Recommended PSI - 110; Maximum PSI - 120; Up - 10.

  • Good, flat resistant tire that is a little more difficult to install
Size: 700x25 Color: Black
Arrived on time, undamaged. These tires are a bit difficult to install, but that's probably due to the many layers of materials that provide very good puncture resistance. Very few flats with these tires and decent tread life. Using with tubes because I don't like the messiness associated with tubeless installations and the twice yearly addition of "Slime" or "Stans" to the tire. ... show more

  • My new set up with Conti Grand prix front and Gartorkin at the rear
Size: 700x25 Color: Black
This is a early review on this Grand Prix 4 Season foldable 700x25mm. I also have a early review on Gartorskin. This is my first Conti brand tire. here is my story! Got a new bike in my collection, and the Mavic Yksion Comp comes with the bike is so flimsy I am sure it won't have a chance to survivor on NYC roads. And that is the reason I run tubeless on my other bikes include 2 road and 2 MTB. However, on this new bike I desire to run regular tires because I like the wheel set that comes with the bike and I don't wants to spend extra thousands to get a new set of tubeless wheels. So I did many research about puncture proof tires. I finally pull a trigger on this setup, Gartorskin on the rear and the Grand prix 4 season on the front. My goal is have less to no flat, beside I don't do racing so I am ok with bit more weight. The grand prix on the scale is 210g which is very light weight. On Conti website they listed 240g. These tire are directional, the making is camouflage on the sidewall. need to pay attention on it. All tire information like psi, size etc... also camouflage on the sidewall, very hard to read! Mounting them on the wheel is easy and no difficult. I mention this many times on my other tire review. Don't use lever to mount or dismount tires. Many time the lever will damage the bead without knowing it also may have big chance to pinch the tube. So don't complain the bead fail, please try not to plier the tire onto the wheel. The size is true 25mm, not like other review say. They must receive a miss packing item which maybe is return form other buyer. Over all this is a very good quality tire. I also option to use Vittoria Latex tube, Conti don't recommend to use them. However I may plan to inject Orange sealant into it. which latex tube seal more better than butyl. So thats it for now, I will update after 500 miles on them :-) ... show more

  • Very solid performer
Size: 700 x 32-Inch Color: Black
Hippo is a heavier rider who has run the 700x32 version of these for years traveling about 3000 kms per year. They are my go to, solid performers on roads, paved and non- paved trails and light gravel. They roll well in dry and are grippy in wet conditions. They do okay in light mud. Haven’t used them on snow or ice. The tread wears extremely well. Hippo change them out every 6000kms or so only because that coincides with the start of their 3rd season and Hippo not want to mess with fixin’ a flat. So every other spring he just change them whether it actually needed or not. Probably could go 10000kms or more. They need a little extra encouragement to get on the rim, but not too bad. A very solid performer. Hippo highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great tire. Not perfect, however.
Size: 700x25 Color: Black
Let me begin by saying I ride Continental tires exclusively. If all goes well, I find their ride quality and durability unmatched by even the higher-priced competition. These features come at a price, however, for Contis are not cheap. And as many of you know, it's not a perfect world out there. The last three sets of Continental road tires I have installed and used have not lasted as long as I hoped or expected. At least one tire from each set ended up being shredded by road debris and failing catastrophically (explosive blowout) long before it wore out. I run tires at their recommended pressure (8 bar) and check this before each ride. I am careful and generally do not ride in urban settings. None of these failures has been as a result improper mounting. All involved striking some unseen object which cut the tire through the casing, in some cases over and inch in length, rendering it useless. What it comes down to is this: For every set of tires I use (presumably two tires) I end up having to buy a third or possibly a fourth. This raises my operating costs significantly, to say nothing of the inconvenience. This series of unfortunate events causes me to wonder whether Continental is perhaps sacrificing just a bit too much material in order to save weight. Maybe, maybe not. I'm going to be generous and chalk it up to bad luck. I still love how Contis ride and what they do for my riding esxperience. As such I will continue to shell out for a new set (or three, or four) every season or so. And yes, I would definitely recommend them to a friend. ... show more

  • Best tire on the market
Size: 700x25 Color: Black/Reflex
I have three bikes and two of them have Conti 4000 S, and my third bike the new version 4000 S II. This is a long lasting tire. I would not put anything else on my bikes. There's a reason its the most popular tire on the road for racing, century rides or training. Yes, it's expensive but the performance and puncture resistance is sooo worth it. Changing from the stock tire that came on my first bike to the 4000 S was a night and day difference in feel and handling. The center of the tire has extra rubber that dampens the road imperfections and I assume aids with puncture resistance as well, 1 flat in three years. It's also probably why they last so long. The new reflex version is growing on me, its a reflective strip around the entire wheel that reflects really well, no logos. See photos with flash and without. I have the 4000 S II reflex on the rear and the regular older 4000 S on the front before i replaced it with the 4000 S II reflex version. ... show more
