  • My best ride ever on road tubeless
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
I'm writing this review after only 2 rides, so had to be neutral on durability, longevity, and value. However, if I had not done the install and could rate the ride quality, comfort and rolling resistance they would be 5 stars. I used Goldylocks sealant with no problems, but do not try to put more than 2 oz. In these tires. I found some tricks for installation. The hook bead is very thick, which is good. That high quality bead presents significant install challenges. I.E. on some hooked TL rims, after getting about a 2 thirds of the bead on the rim, the bead will start slipping off on the opposite side. It can become a never ending battle. After getting the tire to about 2 thirds I placed 2 very tight zip ties around the rim and tire where the bead was in the rim. Then using a flat-ended tire tool start working the opposite side onto the rim no more than an inch at a time until the entire bead is in the rim. If you use a tire tool with a point you will probably damage the tape and get leaks. You also might want to protect and decals on the rim with painter tape. My advice...never use more than 80 psi on hooked rims. The rims can cut through the bead at high pressure. ... show more

  • Are you changing to tubeless?
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
In So Cal, you have many encounters with bull thorns (aka Goat heads, I call them devil’s head!). I wanted to convert to tubeless. So, I bought 2 tires and then found out I didn’t have tubeless-ready rims. I’m keeping the tires, but not doing the conversion. I’ll install tubes and try to pick up Kevlar tape to protect the tubes. ... show more

  • great tire - can be *very* difficult to mount
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
I got tired of fixing lots of flats, so decided to go tubeless on my road bike. Having ridden on them for a few hundred miles, they're great! Zero flats, more comfortable, and faster than the previous GP4000 SII's I had before. However, getting them mounted was a freaking nightmare. Different rims can all be 'tubeless compatible' but have pretty different dimensions, leading to a guessing game of if your combo will be normal or impossible to get mounted. In my case, it took nearly breaking my tire irons + a lot of cursing to get them on. Use soapy water + all the tricks in the book, or have a local shop do the install for you, because they are not nearly as stretchy as the non-tubeless version. It makes sense, they are more heavily reinforced to keep their seal, but it was incredibly frustrating nonetheless. tl;dr - pay someone else to mount them, then they're great. ... show more

  • Better than the rest.
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
Pro - Smooth, connected, solid, quiet riding on the straights, confident grippy in the corners. Pro/Con - Seems dense. Not sure if it is heavier than others, might be why it feels soo good? Since I'm not racing and it is so good in all other areas - I don't care. Replaced a Bontrager 26c R3 with this. R3 also gave confident cornering but felt skittish and has started wearing quickly. It also has alot of road hiss; kept looking behind me for cars. I still have one on my rear wheel; great place for it - can't hear it. I might now be a Continental "fan boy". Have gone through a fair number of others - keep regretting it when I stray. ... show more

  • Fast tubeless tire
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
This is a nice, fast riding tire. The wear is more on the rear tire like every performance race tire on the market. Front is wearing nice, about 2/1 ratio front to rear. Maybe more bc I’m still on original front and I could probably order another rear tire. However, I’m switching up to a more durable tire for fall/winter training here in NY. Probably going with the GP 5000 S TL next season. ... show more

  • Good fast tires, but only lasted 1800 miles
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
Update 5 days later: apparently racing tires, like this, only last 1000-1400 miles, according to my buddies from the cycling club, so I'm adjusting my expectations :) I got them in April for 2020 season, now its mid-June, I put about 1800 miles in them and its totally squared off, no depth indicators, and I see few spots where I see cord (see picture). I hoped they last longer, I ride fast, and its hilly here, and I'm 205lbs. Front tire is perfectly fine. In total I punctured rear tire 4 times, front - 2, I only noticed punctures at home, when seen sealant over frame, never it caused any issues during rides, no need for any patching or stopping, just pump it up once in a week. Overall I'm happy with them, will be free replacing rear tire. ... show more

  • Great tire for the right wheels.
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
Very good tire if you can get it mounted on your wheel. I was able to get the first set of tires mounted with lots of help from friends and my bike shop. They were so difficult to get mounted that I never carried a spare tube on rides because I knew there would be no way to install a tube on the side of the road or ever. Ordered a 2nd time and couldnt get them mounted so I returned them and went with the less durable Vittoria Corsa. My wheels are the Mavic Cosmic and Comete. ... show more

  • Hard to install tubeless
Size: 700 x 25c Style: Tubeless Pattern Name: Single
Tires feel great on the ride, but I had a hard time installing them for a switch to a tubeless setup. Extremely tight fit. Thumbs were sore from all the twisting and wringing, and my phone didn't recognize my thumb print for a while. Resorted to tire levers. I had a really hard time getting the rear tire bead to seat though, but it worked when I replaced the rim tape. I find that I need to pump up the tires after 2-3 days, as pressure drops to around 60 psi so that's a little bit annoying. ... show more
