These are our favorite cups for my 7 and 9 year old They CAN drink from an open cup, but with dogs and a 3 year old its usually easier to have cups that dont leak. I like these water bottles for school because it doesn’t have a straw and extra mouth piece to wash. They get scratched up easily but hold up well. Dishwasher safe.

Just what I was looking for! Even my older kids use these. It's nice to not have to worry about cups of water sitting in random places and tipping over! They just push a button on the side, and a small opening appears where the liquid comes out. Because of the mechanism in the lid, these are very top heavy. They fall over all the time if there isn't enough liquid inside. Some of the lids are a little hard to screw on. That being said, I have bought 3 sets of them. They are great. If the lid is screwed on properly they don't leak. I only use them for water. I store them in the cupboard with the lid separate to make sure they are completely dry, and so they don't fall over. ... show more

Highly recommend these bottles. I just brought more, and see that I ordered the ones that need replacing almost 2 years ago. The kids each have 2 and use a bottle daily (we had more bottles but 2 seems to be the magic number when kids can keep track of them and don't lose them). The bottles are dropped frequently. The kids started using them at 4yrs old, and it didn't take long for them to figure out the button/tip/drink process. It's about 7yo when kids can figure out how to tighten the lid well enough that it doesn't drip. It's the button that fails, making it too easy to get pressed while in the backpack. But again, this is after 2 years. We only use them for water or thin liquids, no thick juice or something with pulp; that would make the lid gross quickly. I occasionally use a pipe cleaner to clean inside the top piece, but otherwise they go through the dishwasher. I used a label maker to stick on kid names, and those don't come off in the dishwasher. ... show more

I am super excited about these Contigo cups for my daughter which I bought for her lunches. I was using some sippy cups that were leak-proof I am super excited about these contigo cups for my daughter which I bought for her lunches. I was using some sippy cup that were leak proof for her lunches, but kids at school started making fun of her for them saying she had "baby cups". I looked a lot on Amazon as well as other stores for some good cups that were leak-proof to fit in her lunches, most of them were still kind of kids like. These ones are more similar to the leak proof coffee mugs that you can buy even for adults. I bought two of them to try them out and they seem to get a good amount of liquid in them as well as are small enough to fit into her lunch pail. For the most part they are leak proof, however I guess if you did accidentally bumped the button hard enough it could leak though I haven't run into that issue yet. I like that they go directly in the washer so they are easy to clean, I do wish that they were able to take the little part a little bit more so I can clean and all the little pieces. However I found that as long as I rinse them out soon after she brings them home from school and put them in the dishwasher they seem to get fairly clean. She's happy with them and I'm happy with them so I'll probably be buying a few sets more so that she has one for every day of the week and I don't have to wash them as often. Edit: we eneded up buying 4 more in 4 different colors (now we have 6 total) and we LOVE THESE! ... show more
