This cord is very high quality but is NOT a generator cord. It is a welder cord. The plug does not fit into my generator. The heavy duty plug end is intended for a welding machine. Be sure before you buy it.

Wow, pretty sturdy cable. Seems to work great with my whole-house portable generator plugged into an outdoor 50A receptacle. I wish it was 6/4 instead of 6/3+8/1 (which is why I only gave it 4 stars), but I can live with that. I'm using it in conjunction with: Generator http://www.amazon.com/Generac-5735-GP17500E-Portable-Generator/dp/B001RCUOU6 Outdoor Receptical http://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Controls-PB50-Generator-Generators/dp/B000HRWGBW Panel Interlock http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CONE4MG (this depends on the brand/type of panel you have...I've got a SquareD model) An electrician wired this up to a 240V/50A breaker in my 200A main panel which energizes the entire house. Works in a testing env, but haven't had an outage yet to test for longer-term use. (knock on wood) Total cost for whole-house generator backup was about $3k (including the elecrician fees to deal with the panel).
