    • Too big and too wobbly
For a $200 desk, this one looked great and does have a lot of good qualities: higher than normal quality of parts, good finish of the plywood and bolts that don't fall out. Unfortunately, not only is the color different than it is on photos, the single biggest drawback is how wobbly it is! I assembled thousands of pieces of furniture in my lifetime and yet, somehow, this desk almost kicked my ass! The instructions, while fairly easy to understand, fail to accentuate the importance of placing the necessary holes in the back, howecer, even if there was a super-thorough manual, still, in the end you left with a huge, enormous wobbly monster that can't be repaired and can't be sent back because it would take way too much energy. From an engineering standpoint it's poorly thought-out, there is a lot of wasted space, no wire management solution of any kind, poor structural integrity and no space for your mouse or keyboard. Those who prefer to use their mouse and keyboard atop of their desks, well, good for you, I'm not used to it and, even though I planned to add such capability after receiving it, I had to abandon these plans because of how wobbly it is. The upper shelf is also very poorly placed, it's somehow too high up to place a monitor where you can see it, so you end up with a crampin your neck since you're forced to look up at all times and, because the shelf is integral for structural stability, removing is isn't an option. There isn't enough space elsewhere to put the monitor/TV on, I think I'll end up getting some type of a flexible arm mount to install the TV. Anyone whose room is smaller than a stadium should avoid getting this desk, it's not comfortable, it's too big, it's poorly thought out and the cross bracing in the back looks horrible in real life. I will try to find a piece of matching plywood to cover up the open empty spaces, which will solve two problems by providing the desk with the necessary mounting points to reduce the wobble. And no, I can't tighten the bolts any tighter, I risk ripping them out of their sockets. And yes, I did loosen them and tighten them all over again, more than once, more than give times actually, didn't help, it still wobbles and my monitor is still moving back and forth when I walk around the room. I bought this desk to replace an old-style 20+ year old Sauder computer desk - the kind that has a roll out printer stand and filing cabinets, letter hutches, drawers for the days when computers were connected directly to printers and everything was saved in paper files and people communicated via snail mail. I love the shelves for storing the reference books that I refer to often on my computer, and for holding my cameras when I connect to the computer to download images. It has ample room for dual monitors and keeps them off the desk so I get that desk space back underneath them. There is plenty of room on the shelves for any papers/notebooks I am working with without burying the keyboard and mouse under clutter. I kind of wish the right-side shelves would have an extra optional shelf for those who no longer use a tower computer, but I still find I have plenty of space for the things I need without my workspace becoming over crowded. The desk feels well made and sturdy and all pieces arrived in perfect condition and well packed. The package came with lots of extra pieces and, in addition, an entire little bag labeled extra parts, so no worries about losing any hardware. We had quite a few mix-ups putting it together where we had to take some bars apart and switch them or flip them (and my husband who was doing most of the work is a pro at assembling things), so it wasn't the easiest to put together and all required details are not spelled out in the instructions, but eventually we figured out exactly how each piece needed to be connected. I love the modern openness of this desk. It is so easy to keep it orderly. No drawers to tempt me to stash things away and forget about them forever. I did need to order a new office chair to better suit this desk. The one in the photo is a standard chair and it is a little low for this desk - at least for my height (5'4"). I end up looking up at the monitors when they are on the shelf and my elbows are not at a 90 degree angle from the keyboard (no keyboard drawer as I was used to). So I ordered a chair that could extend a little taller than any of the existing office chairs I currently own (tried 3 of them and all were a tad short). I am temporarily using a bar stool with a back while waiting for the new office chair to arrive. I found that a seat that is 23" from the ground is about perfect for me when using this desk. ... show more

Was looking for a desk with shelves with a unique layout and really liked the look of this one. Been using it for a few weeks now and its awesome. Very sturdy after construction and awesome with the shelves and monitor stand. Construction is a little challenging as there's a lot of parts and me placing 1 stand in backwards (both sides were symmetrical... except for a tiny hole I didnt notice in the metal or the pictures ) made me not not able to secure the back X frame... and because many of the shelves are bolted into the central plank, I needed to disassemble the nearly the whole desk just to turn 1 piece of metal around. So... multiday construction, but the end product is awesome ... show more

Overall, great desk. I didnt know it was a small business so having the hand written note from the business was soo cute and im happy to support! My only complaint is it *says* easy to assemble but the instructions have no wording to make it easier. The shelves came unlabelled so that was difficult to figure out which ones go where since the top ones seem to be a bit wider than the rest of the shelves. It also would have been helpful having clear pictures of the holes in the rods OR for the instructions to indicate which way to build the rods. I ended up flipping the pieces where the cross bar goes (which is the last step) so the cross bar ended up in the front. I had to take apart the ENTIRE desk in order to reverse it and put the cross bars back on. Its not sturdy without the bars so i couldnt just say forget it and not put them on. Other than that, i love it. It’s so much better than my old desk, more room, more storage options and i can fit my printer on it which is a huge plus for me!! ... show more
