Pro: No fluff. Technical and thorough information. Very informative and important "call outs" or special notes in each chapter. Comprehensive chapter quizzes with questions similar to actual exam. Books updated for each new version of exam. Con: "10% off" coupon thru Wiley Test Prep did not work. Some concepts a bit difficult to understand at first glance. Was a first-time "go" on earlier version of Sec+ exam after reading & studying Sybex book in '16. Life got in the way and it cert expired in '22. Took about a month to read the new book, do the chapter quizzes (and re-read/re-quiz as necessary) before successfully taking exam again. Practice Test book is nice but not needed by everyone. What worked for me: Understand the concepts. Study the book until you can score at least 85% on chapter exams. Testing strategy is important. Use the "flag" option for questions with unsure answers. Skip the situational test questions and come back to them to avoid getting bogged down and losing precious time. Once last question is answered, use tally sheet to jump back to flagged and unanswered questions. Leave about 15 minutes at the end for the situational questions. They can be poorly worded, confusing and often are not intuitive. Taking extra time to figure them out results in running out of time. Good luck. ... show more

I really like this book only on the third chapter but I find the way it presents the material to be effective and it provides links to more in depth resources. Not a bad way to start getting certified and a good general all purpose primer on the subject. That said, I think it is important to go beyond certification too. But for an all around introduction and exam prep these are great. ... show more

Very good, in telling core concepts of cybersecurity. Goes over a lot of info for security +, however it slog to go through the book. Information is kind of redundant at times and definitely needs to be re-edit so that’s its ideas are easier to convey to other readers.(You need a lot of time to read and comprehend this book). Still worth of the money, if you really want to pass your test. Recommend to go over the topics that security + focuses on to get the best results ... show more
