Package came great in the box. Everything is up to length. However one of the back breaks fell apart, which is a pain to put together because they don’t like to hold. Anyway the right brake holding screw was stripped so I’m unsure where to get a replacement. Front brakes aren’t a problem for this bike, more of the cherry on top for stopping. Anyway they should always test it before sending to be sure it’s up to quality. Not to mention this feels cheap.

finally got these brakes today, the aluminum RIVET that the brake lever hinges on is split where the rivet was smashed to set it, either very thin aluminum rivet material or too much pressure setting them. i prefer any other fastener than a rivet anyway. there was a tiny hex screw for adjusting the stop on the hand brake lever when it snaps back on one brake but the other was missing, i just took it out so they are both the same, i dont see any point in stopping the brake lever from snapping back all the way when released anyhow. otherwise they seem to be made decent enough for a kids bike, the metal beats the plastic garbage the bike originally came with for sure. as far as the clamping part that goes near the tire/rim it all seems good quality but has different screws for the stops in them, one smaller head and goldish color and one larger head and more silver color... and one really silver colored, they all seem to work but why random screws of various types and material?

I would give Zero Stars, if I were able. With 60+ years of bike riding and repair experience, I have never seen such poor quality components offered to the public. STAY AWAY from this brake set, or somebody is going to install these right out of the box and hurt themselves or someone else. Here's why: 1. Both front and rear non-saddle side brake arms bound up and would not release. 2. Nylon insert in noodles comes out with brake use, causing brakes to go out of adjustment. 3. Mold flashing on metal and plastic parts keeps brake arms from seating properly, causing the arms to bind up randomly. 4. Brake levers are "floppy" and have too much play. 5. Brake levers on the set I received were two different designs, made with different parts. 6. Mold flashing on the inside of brake lever housings randomly caused the levers to fail to release. 7. Brake pad quality is only average. Once bedded in, they hold well enough but wear quickly. Consider the included pads a "starter set" and buy replacements immediately. 8. Clamping screw hole on right-hand brake lever was not tapped deeply enough to allow brake lever housing to clamp to handlebar. 9. Polishing abrasive was not cleaned from one non-saddle brake arm, causing intermittent binding. I'm keeping this set, as I had modified it so I could not return it, but it is staying on my bike only until my [name brand] V-Brake set arrives. Poor quality parts like these Boao ones are a pain to use and discourage folks from using their bicycles. All in all, I had to rework the components extensively, grinding away manufacturing defects so the parts fit properly. Even with all that, this brake set is nearly impossible to balance and have it stay balanced - one brake pad or the other will drag along the rim. The metal used in the parts is good, and the components are strong, but if you are not willing to put in a few hours of work to fine-tune these, stay away from buying them. I truly cannot find words to express how bad these are. You really do get what you pay for!
