Description

The Competition Engineering 8-Point Roll Bar Strut Kit is manufactured from mild steel tubing with 1-3/4 inch outer diameter and 0.134 inch width. The Strut Kit consists of two rear struts, two front door bars, main hoop crossbrace, two diagonal hoop supports, six weld joint gussets and six 6 inch x 6 inch x 1/8 inch steel mounting pads to provide a solid mount for the bars. They include complete instructions to ensure a hassle free installation.

I know absolutely nothing about building a drag car but took on this challenge as my boyfriend very much wants a drag car. I ordered this apprehensively because, again, I know as much about race cars as I do about brain surgery. Luckily, it did what he needed. It required some modifications to fit his foxbody Mustang and of course it has to be welded. Note: you can't stick weld it. You'll need a MIG welder (of which we are now proud owners). For what this review is worth, I feel like if you have found yourself buying a roll cage on Amazon, you probably know what you're doing; And if you know what you're doing, you should be just fine. 😁 ... show more

  • You only get the bracing...main hoop not included
Did not like the fact that the main roll bar hopping is not included. The ad sounds like you get everything you need yet the main hoop is not included....read carefully.

Please be sure to note that this is a generic strut kit, not a complete roll bar. This kit will need to be matched up to a vehicle-specific main hoop. I have installed this 8 pt kit on a 2nd gen F body. I haven't crashed the car, so I cannot speak to crash protection (thank goodness) but I can say that this kit added much-needed rigidity and chassis reaction to the vehicle. If you have a 2nd gen F body that you may drag race even occasionally, this cage is a must. Doubly so for T-Top cars. Also keep in mind that this isn't a simple installation. While you don't have to fabricate everything from scratch it's going to need some fit and finish work, plus a lot of welding. You'll need appropriate metalworking tools and at least a 130 amp welder. And if you do race, also use your track's rules and guidelines to install any cage. If you weld in a cage and it doesn't meet the rules, you may not be allowed to run. *Check your sanctioning body before you even buy anything!* ... show more
