  • Powerful commercial ice maker
The media could not be loaded. Installed this commercial ice maker in my small restaurant about six weeks ago and it’s been a game-changer for our ice needs, though it comes with some trade-offs. The 550 pounds per day ice production capacity is genuinely impressive - we’re a busy lunch and dinner spot and this thing keeps up with demand without any issues. The ice making cycle of 5-15 minutes is accurate, though it varies depending on ambient temperature and how full the storage bin is. On really hot days or when we’re constantly pulling ice out, cycles lean closer to the 15 minute mark. The pure copper compressor runs efficiently and hasn’t given us any problems so far. The 400 pound ice storage capacity is substantial and has eliminated our need to buy bagged ice completely, which has already saved us a good chunk of money over the past month and a half. The 3-layer storage bucket design with 201 stainless steel, insulation foam, and food-grade plastic does keep ice frozen for a solid amount of time - the 10 hour claim seems about right when the lid stays closed. We’ve noticed that if you’re opening it frequently during busy periods, the ice starts melting faster, but that’s to be expected. The drain at the bottom is convenient for cleaning out melted water, just hook up a hose or bucket and let it drain. The self-cleaning mode is a nice feature that makes maintenance much easier than I expected. You just press the button and it runs a cleaning cycle that flushes out the system. We run it about once a week to keep everything sanitary. The 0.01 micron filter does seem to produce clean, clear ice cubes - no cloudiness or weird tastes that we’ve noticed. We did have to replace the filter once already after about 5 weeks of heavy use, so factor in ongoing filter costs. The adjustable ice thickness with 30 different levels is actually pretty useful. We keep it set around level 15-18 for most uses - thick enough for drinks but not so thick they take forever to melt. The thinner settings work well for blended drinks, and the thicker settings are good for display purposes or when customers want ice that lasts longer in their drinks. The ice cube size at 7/8 inch is a good standard size that works for most applications. The ability to fine-tune thickness is something I didn’t think I’d use much but it’s actually come in handy for different menu items. The food-grade materials give me peace of mind that we’re serving safe ice to customers. All the water contact surfaces are proper food-grade plastic and stainless steel. The build quality overall feels commercial-grade and sturdy. However, this unit is absolutely massive and takes up a lot of floor space. The footprint is bigger than I anticipated even after measuring - it’s about 24 inches wide and deep, and stands probably 33-34 inches tall. Make sure you have adequate space and proper ventilation around it because it does put out heat from the compressor. We had to rearrange our back kitchen area to accommodate it. The noise level is noticeable but not terrible for a commercial unit. It’s definitely louder than a residential ice maker - there’s a constant humming from the compressor and you can hear the ice dropping into the bin. In a commercial kitchen with other equipment running it blends in fine, but it would probably be too loud for a home kitchen unless it was in a separate area. Installation was straightforward but you’ll want a professional to do the water line hookup and make sure drainage is set up properly. We hired a plumber and it took about 2 hours total. The unit requires a dedicated water line and drain, so factor that into your setup costs. The electrical requirements are standard 110V which is convenient. The timed ice making function works well - you can program it to only make ice during certain hours which is good for energy efficiency when you’re closed. We have it shut off overnight and start back up an hour before we open. The controls are pretty intuitive once you spend some time with the manual. The display panel shows ice thickness level, production status, cleaning reminders, and error codes if something goes wrong. Energy consumption is noticeable on our electric bill but not as bad as I feared for a unit this size. The efficiency of the copper compressor probably helps. Water usage is significant - we’re going through a lot more water than with buying bagged ice, but the convenience trade-off is worth it. The 3-year machine warranty and 5-year compressor warranty are reassuring for such a large investment. We haven’t needed to use the warranty yet but it’s good to know it’s there. After six weeks of daily use, the machine is holding up well with no signs of wear or mechanical issues. The ice quality stays consistent batch after batch. We haven’t had any problems with ice sticking together or the machine jamming up. One minor annoyance is that the ice bin doesn’t have interior lighting, so you’re kinda reaching into a dark bin to scoop ice. We added a small LED strip light above it which helped. The ice scoop that comes with it is basic but functional - we ended up getting a larger commercial scoop for faster service during rushes. Cleaning the exterior stainless steel requires some upkeep to prevent fingerprints and water spots, but that’s standard for any stainless equipment. The self-cleaning function handles the interior well but you still need to wipe down the exterior and clean the bin periodically. The ice cubes come out consistently sized and shaped, which customers appreciate. They’re clear and don’t have that cloudy appearance that some ice makers produce. The ice is hard and dense, takes a while to melt in drinks which is good for customer satisfaction. We’ve gotten compliments on the ice quality which sounds weird but apparently people notice. The machine does need to be leveled properly during installation or the ice won’t dispense correctly into the bin. We had to adjust the feet a few times to get it right. Once level, ice falls perfectly into the storage bin without jamming. The production rate of 550 pounds per day is more than enough for our needs - we’re a small to medium sized place and typically use maybe 200-300 pounds on a busy day. Having the extra capacity means we never run out even during unexpected rushes or events. The continuous production means the bin stays well-stocked throughout service. Price-wise this is definitely an investment - not cheap by any means, but if you’re buying ice regularly for a commercial operation, the payback period is probably 8-12 months depending on your usage. For a home user this would be massive overkill unless you’re running events regularly or have a very large household. The return on investment for us has been solid - no more last-minute ice runs, no storage space taken up by bagged ice, and labor savings from not having to manage ice inventory. The reliability has been excellent so far, runs day after day without issues. Maintenance is minimal beyond the weekly self-cleaning cycle and occasional filter changes. Would I recommend this ice maker? Absolutely for commercial applications like restaurants, bars, cafes, or catering operations. It’s a workhorse that delivers consistent ice production and has paid for itself in convenience and cost savings. Just make sure you have the physical space for it, proper installation, and realistic expectations about noise and energy use. For residential use, this would only make sense if you have serious ice needs and the space to accommodate it. The build quality, warranty coverage, and production capacity make it a solid choice for anyone who needs reliable, high-volume ice production. ... show more

  • A High-Capacity Workhorse That Delivers Consistent Results
Size: 550lbs/24h & 400lbs Capacity Number of Items: 1
This commercial ice maker is an absolute workhorse that rivals name-brand units I have used in the past. Upon receiving it the first thing you notice is the substantial build quality. The stainless steel exterior looks professional and the three-layer storage bin feels incredibly sturdy. Installation was straightforward since it uses a standard 110V plug though you will want to ensure you have adequate floor space and proper drainage set up. It is a massive unit standing over 30 inches tall so measuring your space beforehand is critical. I really appreciate that it came with everything needed to get started including a water filter which ensures the ice comes out crystal clear and tasteless. In terms of performance this machine does not disappoint. The ice production is impressive delivering a fresh batch every 5 to 15 minutes depending on the ambient temperature. We have found the 550-pound daily capacity is more than enough to keep up with high demand and the 400-pound storage bin is excellent at retaining temperature keeping ice frozen for hours. One of my favorite features is the adjustable ice thickness. With 30 different levels it is easy to dial in exactly what you need whether it is thinner ice for blended drinks or thick dense cubes that melt slowly in cocktails. The controls are intuitive and the self-cleaning mode is a massive time-saver for maintenance making it easy to keep the system sanitary without manual scrubbing. Considering the output and feature set this unit offers incredible value for the money compared to standard commercial options. ... show more

  • Initial review after one week use
Size: 680lbs/24h & 560lbs Capacity Number of Items: 1
I needed a new commercial ice machine after my old one broke. The usual brands cost over $4,500 for just the machine, plus another $1,000 for the ice bin. This machine was one-third of that price and even included the bin. I decided to try it, hoping it would last at least a third as long as my previous one. It's a generic brand from China with no official U.S. support, but the price was too good to pass up. Unpacking: The items arrived in just three days. The packaging was excellent—the bin was in a heavy cardboard box, and the machine was in a secure wooden crate. There was very little chance of damage during shipping. I was impressed by the bin. All four sides are stainless steel, the lid closes softly, and the insulation is very thick. My old bin was just thin plastic. This bin alone feels like it's worth much more. Installation: Installation was very easy. Everything needed was included, even a water filter. Unlike my old machine, this one doesn't need to be hardwired; it just uses a standard plug. I spent more time peeling off the protective plastic than I did on the actual setup. Performance & Use: The machine is simple to operate. You just turn it on, and it starts making ice. It produces square cubes and harvests them about every 15 minutes. It took about a day to fill the bin completely. The front LED panel is helpful. It shows the time since the last ice harvest, if the bin is full, and whether the compressor and pump are working. All the installation instructions and troubleshooting info are right on the front panel, along with contact email and phone numbers. I emailed them about buying more water filters and got a quick, polite reply. This made me feel confident that I could get help and parts if needed. Cons (Potential Downsides): · The plastic water hoses and pipes seem thin. I'm not sure how long they will last. · It's a "no-name" brand, which is a little concerning. · Some internal plastic parts, like the water reservoir, could be thicker. Since they are used constantly, their long-term durability is unknown. Conclusion: This ice machine offers exceptional value for its price. The quality is very good, the included bin is excellent, and the customer support seems responsive. So far, I am very pleased with my purchase. ... show more
