Appears to be very sturdy, and I feel that they will last a long time. Heavyweight. Slightly awkward to use. The biggest drawback is that when you grab a pile a leaves, a whole bunch of the leaves get "stabbed" by the prongs, and actually stay stuck on them when you try to empty them over a can. You then have to pull the leaves off the tines as they get too full. Not a problem with the big plastic claw types. ... show more

I have used several different leaf scoopers over the years and they all eventually cracked. They were all made of plastic. I am often scooping heavier material mixed in with the leaves and this extra weight is hard on the plastic. These metal scoops will handle a variety of debris. If you only need to pick up leaves, stick with the plastic. But the steel scoops should lift all kinds of heavier material. At $50 it is a little pricey...but these are the only metal scoops that I could find on the market. ... show more

    • Not bad, but still painful to use.

Bought these after trying plastic scoops last year, but those are all poorly designed, as they dig into the back of your hand when any pressure is applied. I was hopeful that these would be better as they have padding, and as long as your hands are hanging straight down, there is no pain. Unfortunately, when you lift up some leaves high enough to put them in a bag, you bend your elbows 90 degrees and the weight of the scoops and leaves cause a lever action, pushing the lower side of the metal handle into the bottom of the wrist (actually the outside of the wrist near the ulna, which is turned toward the ground). I have gloves on, and pressing the side of the handles with my thumbs helps only a bit. It's too bad, because with some trial and error they probably could have improved the design enough to remove the pain. I will likely keep these as I do think they are well made, and I'll try to rig something up to make them more user friendly. ... show more

These are really cool. The only complaint I have is the mount for the tines could a bit wider so when they weld them it wouldn't create a weak spot. My first set I got, both had a tine broke off. This was caused partly due to the welding as mentioned and the packaging is horrible. Other than that, I really like them, especially with my bad back, I can't use a standard rake to pic up yard clippings. Oh, and the gloves they include, are great and all, if you have small hands. Which I don't. My wife likes them, though. Now the packaging, The send this in a single layer cardboard box and then Amazon send it through their shipping system in the said box to me. I usually will complain about a box in a box, but in this case they needed to pack it in a box. But in Amazons defense, due to the poor quality box, it could of been damaged elsewhere. So, in short, the manufacture needs up the box quality. Or come up with a way to better pack the items. ... show more

    • My wife likes them too!
I chose these because they had steel wire teeth and were longer than some of the hand held "scoops". I want to use them for a mixture of leaves, small sticks, and pine needles. The first time my wife used it in combination with a fan rake to pick up small pieces she was impressed. I used them to pick up dry leaves. Of course the steel teeth stabbed into some of the leaves. After repeated action there were quite a few leaves accumulating on the tines. I quickly realized I could use one tool to clear the other. I was able to easily pick up leaves and leaves with sticks. I did find that holding the tool at some angles worked better than others. The pair seems very sturdy and I expect they'll last a long time. The wrist strap is a piece of flat steel wrapped with a hook and loop nylon cover. I may add a little more padding. Overall I'm very pleased with them. ... show more

The strap should be adjustable they are uncomfortable the way they fit me. They are good quality and work but if the strap was adjustable instead of wrapped around a solid piece of wood they would be perfect.

These leaf grabbers….I wanted to love them and was excited to use them. I could not use them at all without them hurting my wrists to the point of bruising and pain. I would have retuned them but I’ve missed the return by Nov 15 date. The idea is brilliant but the pain they have caused me is a lose lose situation.. sorry to be blunt but I am returning to use my broken plastic ones. Definitely needs thicker wrist guards… ... show more
