I’ve been wearing these hiking boots for the past few months on trails and around town, and they were very comfortable from the start. The break-in period was non-existent (they were ready to wear right out of the box), and they provide excellent support for long walks. The grip is solid on both dry and wet terrain, and the boots feel durable enough to handle regular use. The waterproofing is excellent and my feet stayed completely dry, even when crossing a river! The boots are lightweight enough to wear for all day wear, but for longer hikes they may become a bit heavy feeling. This is my second pair of these boots. The first, I still have been wearing for years. I decided to go again with what worked and here’s why: I’m a landscape designer and I also work at a plant nursery. I insist on comfortable waterproof boots ! These are both! I’m on my feet all day and in and out of situations with water, mud and rocks. These are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever purchased. I must emphasize, no break in time and feel great right out of the box! For the price, I’m amazed at the quality of these boots. I usually always wear a size 7 and I ordered 7’s and they fit perfectly! I also hike and fish in these boots and I’m very pleased at how they work for that as well!! These are very comfortable and warm. They do run small and the wide is barely wide. My feet stay dry and they are light and easy to walk in. But the way the laces slide under the leather logo on the tongue is terrible. If snow is any higher than an inch, the tongues act like a snow scoop. And if it’s actively snowing or raining, the tongue funnels the wet right in! ... show more

    • My favorite hiking boot

Now that I’ve hiked about 50 miles (80km) in these boots, I can confidently recommend them. Not a loose thread in sight. I’ve hiked through creeks, I’ve submerged them in water AND mud. During a particularly treacherous hike, I had to walk through deep mud that covered the entire boot, laces and all. I used my water bladder from my hiking pack to rinse it, and it was back to looking fine. I didn’t take any special steps to clean or dry them, just kept hiking.They’re definitely waterproof, I’ve walked straight through the creek with no issues. I have a wider foot so I chose a wide and I’m glad I did. I feel like I could easily get another 50-100 miles out of these boots before they show any signs of needing replacement. They’re sturdy, the laces are nice and strong too. They’re not too heavy and they are able to fit wool socks into comfortably when I adjust the laces. I’ve even doubled up socks and made the fit. Still comfortable with my summer socks too. I did put in a Dr. schols insert in them just bc I tend to get plantar fasciitis but with the inserts in these boots I’ve actually never felt foot pain even on my longest adventures. ... show more
